Daily Inspiration: Meet Lauren Lux

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Lux.

Lauren, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Being in the hair industry for 18 years has flown by! It all started in my hometown Chicago, doing hair in my Mom’s bathroom. And now has taken me to Los Angeles, where I get to do hair for the stars! As a teen, my Mom would bring me to her local salon to get my hair done, and I would never walk out with what I wanted. I would bring in pictures of Mötley Crüe to show the girls, and they would always talk their way out of doing it, so this is where I took matters into my own hands. I went to the Beauty Supply shop, bought my own tools and hair color, and the rest is history! My bleached blonde hair definitely stood out. People would approach me asking who did my hair, and if I could do theirs too. I just kept wanting to do more, so I signed up for Beauty School where I could get licensed. After graduating, I finished an apprenticeship at a high end salon called Mario Tricoci. There, I got an amazing education to take with me and also went right into working with my good friend and her company, Rock Razor Scissors. We did hair backstage for many events, festivals, and artists such as Pink Floyd, to name one. Everything happened very fast, I was ready to take on more and could not get enough! I was in and out of salons in Chicago, never really finding a place I wanted to settle, and always had visions of a bigger dream waiting for me on the West Coast. I fell in love with LA the first day I came to visit, and knew in my heart, that one day I was going to move my career there and make it my home. After my big move, I was welcomed into a busy and well known salon named Daniel Alfonso Men’s Salon. Here I was able to build my clientele back from the ground up very fast! I’ve met so many amazing people and clients in a short amount of time, that I accomplished so much in just only 4 years. But I know this is just the beginning. I am passionate about what I do, and am always ready to keep taking it to the next level!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Well, moving across the country from where my whole life was and having a 14 year clientele built up was not exactly an easy thing to leave! I knew I was completely starting over from scratch in a whole new city. But it was what I wanted, so I was ready to deal with any challenge that came my way. I moved here and hit the ground running and do not regret my decision for a second!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in detailed men and women’s haircuts and personal styling. I am known for my artistic flair and innovative approach to hairstyling. I have became a go-to stylist for many celebrities and musicians, and those seeking their very own perfected personalized look, down to every last detail.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was always getting in trouble for talking too much in class and always looked forward to art and gym. Not much has changed as all I do is talk with my clients all day and I get to be creative! The gym is still the foundation too, when I feel good, my work days are definitely amplified!
