Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Del Mar.
Hi Laura, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I was born in Medellín, Colombia, where I began studying theater in school. From that moment on, I knew that acting was my passion. I started by participating in small theater productions at the acting school I attended. At the age of 20, I decided to move to Bogotá to pursue my dreams further. There, I had the opportunity to work on various national television productions, engage in theater, and gain a deeper understanding of acting from a more professional perspective. After working as an actress in Bogotá for some time, I made the decision to move to New York to study acting at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting and the Atlantic Acting School. After two years, I relocated to Los Angeles to pursue my greatest passion: acting for film.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a beautiful yet challenging journey that has made it even more interesting. One of the biggest challenges has been moving alone to a new country, living far from my family and friends, and adapting to a new culture. However, loneliness has been my driving force, and surprisingly, being far away has brought me closer to the people I love. Another major challenge was learning English at a relatively mature age and adapting to acting in this new language. Nevertheless, this experience taught me discipline and perseverance. Now, I feel very proud to be bilingual and getting closer to my goals with each passing day.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an actress, and a crucial aspect of my work involves studying the human being. This is why I firmly believe that each person possesses their own magic and special touch. Therefore, what distinguishes me from others is the very essence of who I am: my thoughts and my choices within my art. Throughout this journey, I have learned that humility is the greatest strength, that discipline brings results, and that intuition is never wrong.
Any big plans?
My plan for the future is to be able to work hand in hand with great film directors, but I know that to achieve that, I must focus on the path of living my present and working every day to be better at what I do.
