Today we’d like to introduce you to KISS AVERY.

KISS AVERY

KISS, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
KISS AVERY , an alternative Pop, Hip Hop & R&B vocalist with a background in opera and classical music hails from the notoriously talent-producing Atlanta, GA. In the summer of 2015, he released his first original tracks on SoundCloud such as “No Girl Deserves To Be Lonely” that placed Avery in the eyes of the public empowering women to believe in the importance of self-love and independence. In 2017, he released one of his biggest single “Carrie On” that became quickly popular and climbed the charts both domestically and internationally. In 2018, KISS AVERY he released his first EP “3” that executed beautiful dark tones to place fans in their feels. By the end of 2018, KISS AVERY released his compilation album known as “Collection” comprised of all singles released that year. Now in 2021 after the darkest 3 years of his life, KISS AVERY aka DreamBoy has released his now fully self-produced, engineered, recorded, & written most anticipated album “Coming Out The Coffin” which highlights the stories of his darkest moments and what was going on during the 3 years of silence and what led up to those moments. KISS AVERY advocates for the ones who struggle to see the light and provides a message to everyone to “keep your eyes on the light and choose LIFEFOREVER”. Now with an electrifying energy on stage and an impressively diverse repertoire, KISS Avery is continuing his plans on the music scene with an unprecedented sense of originality and drive.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Absolutely not but there were moments there were smooth moments, but overall necessary. In the early stages since I’ve been embarking on this road around the age of like 9 years old it was smoother than it’s been until I became older. In the years since 16 years old and til most recent constant moments of discovery with its share of let downs. Moments of fall outs between peers/collaborators, not receiving support from loved ones like friends and especially family members including my parents. In every situation having to find the will to regain the strength to continue on and move forward despite of everything. Unlearning and relearning new things goes hand in hand with the craft, but the journey is at this point perceived as what it is and it’s at the end of the day you answering the question of whether or not you will continue or not. And the answer from me is still yes.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
So I am a musician and artist. I produce, engineer, songwrite and record when making my music. I’m most proud of the people I’ve met along the way and that are still around helping me out to create every project and not always and only just physically but mentally and morally. I’m also proud of how far I’ve came and the skills I’ve gained over the years to do what I do now. I think the only thing that sets me apart from others is how I do any and every thing when it comes to making the music.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I agree and my advice to creators is to be patient when selecting their mentors because whoever is teaching you should reflect your ambitions and goals. Also there are moments including moments I’ve had where there isn’t a teacher/mentor present but just like the old saying says the teacher will appear when the student is ready and you have to trust that and be patient and work on yourself in the meantime. Find the knowledge to do what must be done, even when you don’t have a mentor you’re able to reach out to personally. Not all mentors are at personal reach too. You can have mentors that you learn teachings from indirectly, doesn’t make them any less of a mentor just because you’re not directly under their wing. Also remember to never idolize anyone because no matter the teacher we all make mistakes and even the teachers aren’t perfect and some decisions that must be made will go off of your gut feeling, and in those kind of moments the answer needed might come from the gut so learn to trust yourself in those moments.
