Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Grace.
Hi Kevin, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am Los Angeles based with an extensive and award-winning background in creating spaces. While my true passion lies in residential interior design, my experience as a creative director for both the Steve Harvey Show and The Kelly Clarkson Show has highlighted my versatility. Through collaborations with numerous high-end and celebrity clients, I have meticulously researched and selected products that align with the overall look and feel of spaces I design. Grace Home Studio, my new store, proudly showcases a specially curated and affordable collection of these products. The collection includes candles, pillows, art, pottery, housewares, books, gift items, and more. A native of Chicago, where culture, climate and geography collide, my unique design sense seamlessly blends my love of color, fashion and pop culture. Mesmerized by Bob Vila’s This Old House as a boy, I have always had a passion for transforming spaces. My early work, bridging both fashion and design, was seen by millions peering into Marshall Field’s iconic State Street windows.
Life suddenly changed for me when I was cast on HGTV’s Design Star, Season 6, giving me a national and international stage on which to share my distinct vision. Because of the incredible support I received for my appearance, I launched my brand, Kevin Grace Design, in 2011. The phenomenal success in both retail and residential design that followed are the result of my core mantra:
“Always be aware of your client’s needs, but never be afraid to push comfort zones and open doors to fresh ideas. Ultimately, stay true to your design soul.”
Through the notoriety and success of my business, I have used my skills to benefit the Make A Wish Foundation, Illinois Eye Bank, Between Friends, Redmoon Theater, Concern Worldwide, and various other charitable organizations. My past Chicago based segments on ABC’s Windy City Live, “Kevin Grace, Save my Space”, were the ultimate expression of my way of giving back to those in need.
I recently left my post as Creative Director and 5-time Emmy nominee for The Kelly Clarkson Show and is currently focused on my true passion, Interior Design, through my company “Kevin Grace Design” as well as “Grace Home Studio” in Los Angeles.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Opening the first week of January came with a few struggles, not only the fact that we were just coming off the Holidays, but the unfortunate fires of 2025 put everyone in a place of sadness and had us all asking “What can I do to help?” We were so new and broke we were not sure we could do anything, but we reached out to charities to see if we could donate anything, which we did, as well as we donated 10% of our first 2wks sales to the “World Central Kitchen”.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Grace Home Studio we not only have great accessories for your home and gifts for your loved ones, we also have a full time Interior Design company that I started in 2011 called “Kevin Grace Design”
Our specialty is being able to mix “High and Low’ when it comes to a budget.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I would guess that a majority of my success could be based on my ability to listen and pivot when necessary. Whether is with a client or in the TV/Film world. Knowing how to make a clear decision in the moment has been a huge strength for me and my career.
