Today we’d like to introduce you to Keith Strenger
Hi Keith, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My career began in the world of distribution. I brokered fresh produce which last almost 20 years at which time I decided to flip my life upside down. Unhappy making a decent living in my early 40’s I decided it was time to start exploring the many entrepreneurial goals that I’ve had since childhood. My way of exploring was diving in and figuring it out as I go. With little to no money I racked up what I had including misc labor related resources and the talents of my artist brother & sister in-law. My first venture, Pepo Melo which is located in Claremont, CA. Taking boring routine açaí bowls to a fresher level. Figuring things out through the pandemic and coming out stronger with a new brand concept, Nosy Neighbors Coffee & Donuts fully created and executed nextdoor to Pepo Melo. Less than 200 sqft Nosy Neighbors makes fresh mini donuts non stop while providing a selection of uniquely crafted teas lemonade and lattes.
Fast forward 3 years later and we moved into a 1500 sqft location 2 blocks away and have quickly become a go to spot in the Claremont village. Just 3 months later and was fortunate to open our second location in Pasadena at 82 S. Lake Ave. by end of year we’ll have our 3rd location open in downtown Redlands and hope to keep the momentum going with a few more locations next year.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Nothing is ever smooth. Especially behind the scenes. Equipment issues to city politics and staffing challenges that never stop. Sacrificing sleep, quality of life and wearing all “hats” at all times. Money is always tight and marketing is always too expensive which means I get to wear that hat too!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I wear all hats but more specifically I manage all operations & marketing for my two concepts. I’m known for creating well branded quick serve operations for others and myself. I’m most proud when I see or hear anyone enjoying their experience at one of my businesses. What sets me apart from others is I look at things with a set of eyes that nobody else can compare to. Once I’ve perfectly executed something I will never stop making improvements motivated through listening and observing.
