Daily Inspiration: Meet Keisha Robinson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keisha Robinson.

Hi Keisha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started off assisting friends and family with writing things like Resumes, Professional Letters, and Speeches. That then led me to filing business documents, creating business plans, and forming Corporations. Through word of mouth, I began to gain more clients. While I have always been passionate about writing, I also loved music .

I would create songs that would eventually be recorded and published.
Some of my music is available online through platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and SoundCloud to name a few. As I continued my writing, I discovered that I also enjoy writing books.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have definitely experienced many challenges along the way. I had to overcome depression, rejection, and many fears. I experienced heartbreaks in relationships, hardships, and Domestic Violence. Through it all, I maintained my focus on my goals and stayed resilient.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am known to many for my writing skills. I have been featured in local newspapers such as the Los Angeles Sentinel, and The Wave. I’ve worked as a writer for a Los Angeles based PR Firm which led me to interview a few high profile public figures. I was also featured in Southwest Colleges 7th Edition “Say The Word”. ( My Alma Mater).

Aside from writing, I also enjoy rapping. I released an EP titled “Coming.” Surprisingly, My music has reached fans worldwide. Specifically my singles, “Coming” “U Already Know” and “4:20.” The music started making a buzz, and that’s when my life took a turn. I had a back injury and was told I would need spine surgery. That slowed me down a lot. I went to various therapists, and decided to write the book, “How To: Overcome Your Fear of Being Successful.”

I am most proud of my mentorship to people with Mental Health challenges, (lived experience). I’ve mentored women recently released from jail to create awareness about Mental Health and reducing the Stigma.

One of the main things that sets me apart from others is that I am always looking for new ways to expand my craft, and incorporating that into ways in which I can help others.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory was performing on stage. From Beauty Pageants, school plays, to performing my music at variousvenues, something about being on stage made me feel alive.

I remember reaching out to a cable network to perform. Raw Talent Showcase was the first TV show that I had ever booked. I just remember wanting to be independent and self sufficient, and unbeknownst to my Mother, I booked that show.
