Daily Inspiration: Meet Kaylyn Noonan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaylyn Noonan.

Hi Kaylyn, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I always knew I wanted to work in the creative field most of my life since I was always drawing, painting, coding myspace layouts (haha!), taking photos, styling, designing, etc. I knew I never really wanted to focus on ‘one thing’ because I love to be creative in so many different ways! I went to school for Graphic Design, then taught myself photography after college not knowing that it would be a huge part in my career. I landed a job in Minneapolis, MN, at a start-up company where I was their Content Creator doing photography, videography and running their social media accounts. After experiencing it all, I found a love for photography and ended up managing a creative team while I was still shooting brand photos. I learned a ton about working with brands those next four years, then decided I needed to grow even more… which lead me to moving to California and starting my own Creative Consulting business – KayKreative LLC. I now work for myself doing photography, brand design, content creation and even videography!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There are always struggles and obstacles while you’re trying to find a place in your career field and even starting your own company. There were many long hours in the start-up culture that lead to some sacrifices, but I would never say I regretted it because it taught me everything I know. Starting a company is not as glamorous as it may seem either, but definitely worth it in the end! There are long hours, a lot of financials you need to keep track of, paying your own taxes, client management… the list goes on! I’m forever learning more and in the end, I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I own a creative consulting company that specializes in photography, brand design, content creation and social media. I am most proud of finally taking the leap to start my own business because it’s so scary going from a salary job to nothing. It taught me to never give up and to believe that I can do anything! I think what sets me apart from others is that I love communicating and getting to know each of my clients, which makes it easier for me to help elevate their brand!

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love that there are endless opportunities in LA – tons of new people to meet and new connections. Something that is a little different about the city is that mostly everyone is extremely busy and fast-paced, so you have to be on top of it!
