Today we’d like to introduce you to Joey Ariemma.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. My journey began with music: playing guitar, singing and writing songs. Music brought me to Nashville. From Nashville, I moved to LA and began touring worldwide, writing and producing music for various artists, and fronting my own band, Big White Light, as well as my solo project. When I got off the road and landed in LA, I got a wild instinct to give acting a shot. I put myself on tape and booked a commercial, built a team, and booked some films. Acting led me to screenwriting. Performance and storytelling have always been my deepest passions and I love the communal aspect of film.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been smooth road. At this point, things have started to smooth out because I do my best to get out of my own way. There is so little one can control in the entertainment business and it’s not for the faint of heart. It takes courage, faith and perseverance. I’ve dealt with family hardship, friends and loved ones in the throes of addiction, and several glass ceilings that have been shattered with persistence. Perhaps my biggest struggle: truly believing in my heart that I am enough just the way I am. I feel that way now. Maturity comes at a cost.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an actor, musician, music producer, and screenwriter. I am most proud of the man I have become through the obstacles I’ve faced. My enthusiasm, energy, work ethic, and the way I make people feel is what sets me apart from others. However, I feel we do our best work when we collaborate. It takes a village.
