Daily Inspiration: Meet Jessi Campbell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessi Campbell.

Hi Jessi, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hi! Liminal space is the common thread that runs throughout my life. What is liminal? The magical place between here & there, this world & that world, you & me…

I grew up in the suburbs of Kansas City. I spent most of my childhood outside and in the liminal space of make-believe – crushing acorns for potions, leading expeditions through the creek, and pretending to be my favorite animals. And honestly, not much has changed! Well, actually everything has changed, but the essence is still the same.

I was born with a wild imagination and a fiery passion to change the world. I remember many nights when I was little, I would practice giving speeches at global conventions before I went to bed. I wish I remembered what I had said. When I was a teenager, I remember feeling like I was born in the wrong time. I wanted to be a part of a revolution. Now that I’m an adult, and with all that’s unfolding in our world, I understand why my time is now.

Dance was my first love. I loved the way it felt to move my body, to feel rhythm move through me, and to express my inner world. I left it when I got to high school for the theatre. I had an incredible teacher who taught me what it meant to have heart and courageously follow my dreams. I went to an acting conservatory in Chicago where I had more incredible teachers who taught me how to listen with my whole being, to be endlessly curious, and to fall in love with the human condition & their stories. I moved to NYC and for four years, I was lucky enough to be a working actor. I met the most amazing woman – fierce, loving, and brave – who cast me in many productions over the years. She taught me to believe in myself.

Over time, I became disenchanted with the acting scene with its many ego-driven personalities and politics. I went to do a play in San Francisco, and a whole new world opened up to me in sunny California. I met a motley crew of musicians who were living and working at the Marin Headlands Hostel on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge, and I fell in love. I learned to play the drums and sing harmonies in the crummy basement all strung up with different colored Christmas lights. We made music every night. Sometimes in the basement. Sometimes drinking and singing in the echoey stairwell into the wee hours of the morning. Here I learned what true happiness can feel like.

But then I remembered I wanted to change the world, so I moved to Oregon to learn permaculture. I learned how to grow food, how to use a chainsaw & a wood stove, and caught a glimpse of what it feels like to truly rely on myself and community. Then I moved to Big Sur. I continued my farm and garden apprenticeship at Esalen. I also moved in with one of the aforementioned motley crew members. Every afternoon, we would pull our instruments out onto the deck and play to the sparkling ocean until dinnertime. Eventually, we started a band with another of the aforementioned motley crew members, and I moved back to San Francisco. We started to gain a little following and made a record. It’s one of the things I’m most proud of. But being in a band is hard, and the music scene got to be very tiring.

And then I remembered, again, that I wanted to change the world. I really wanted to be of service. I always knew I would get into the healing arts one day, and I knew that I would start with Reiki. I don’t know why. I didn’t know anything about it. If I’m being honest, it was probably because I thought it would be the easiest.

I moved to LA for a change in scenery. I found my community of inspiring women entrepreneurs and healers doing both the outer work and the inner work. A few potent plant medicine ceremonies, many tea ceremonies, and a few reiki attunements later, I found myself on the fastrack of deep healing and starting my own business. It was the first time I was doing something on my own. All my other creations had been in collaboration with others, and so I could also hide out in their shadows. But this was me, all me, front and center. It was incredibly vulnerable, terrifying, and liberating. It continues to be.

Five years later, I am so grateful to be serving an ever-growing, beautiful array of clients in Southern California and beyond. And now once again, a new path is emerging… I have recently graduated from a Conscious Dying & Death Midwifery course and am working towards my certification. This feels like it could be the culmination of all my previous loves because I believe that they can all lend themselves to bring beauty to what is possibly the most vulnerable and precious and important moment of our lives. And those speeches I was practicing as a kid? I can feel them now forming around how to weave death back into our culture so that we can live more deeply and take better care of each other and our planet.

I used to be sad that there wasn’t some sort of mystery school that I could’ve gone to growing up. But looking back, I realized I made my own. For some, it’s hard to see the connection between all these different loves of mine. But for me, it’s clear as day. They each contain a doorway to the mysterious, imaginal world of the liminal realms where magic is real.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I offer Liminal Healing Sessions. In these sessions, different mediums and pathways guide you into the liminal realms — the imaginal realms beyond space and time. In this magical place, anything is possible.

A sacred container is created for you to feel safe to explore. I act as a conductor — of energy and weather — creating the optimal conditions for healing connection. Reiki and intuitive energy work encourage you to surrender into the soft, receptive state of being that allow access to the liminal realms.

I call these healing sessions reclamation work because in these liminal places you can:

REMEMBER lost parts of yourself — senses, sensitivities, abilities

RE-ESTABLISH your firsthand relationship to the unseen — guides, guardians, ancestors

RECLAIM your power — your trust — in life, in yourself, and in the unlimited resource within you

REPAIR the divide, deeply heal, and reweave the fabric that connects you to yourself, to others, to Nature, to Spirit

RESTORE balance, the wholeness — the holiness — that is your true nature

I want to emphasize that this work really is for everyone. These relationships — to the unseen and to the unlimited resource within — are our birthright.

I do find that this work is most beneficial for those who are really ready to show up — with deep curiosity and a real longing to form these relationships — and are committed to the long-term tending of these relationships, not just in these sessions, but most importantly — in their own lives — throughout their lives.

✵ For those who want to experience the magic of these realms but don’t know where to begin or how to cultivate the skills necessary to do so

✵ For those who want to have firsthand mystical experiences without ingesting plants, medicines, substances, etc.

✵ For those that are well-traveled in these realms and have established these relationships — but their channels have become blocked, they’ve hit a plateau, are wanting to go deeper, are feeling unable or afraid to do so, and/or wanting the nurturing support of a guide

✵ For those who are currently in a liminal state, in some kind of transition — and want support in navigating and learning to trust in the murky waters of the unknown
