Daily Inspiration: Meet Jason Hargrove

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Hargrove

Hi Jason , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was a wide-eyed kid who wanted to make movies or learn how to make movies. I spent all of my early years in LA learning that craft at studios like Fox Searchlight and Networks like MTV. Over time, I became attracted to the allure of digital content. After years of chasing flawed business models and overly bombastic producers, I had grown tired and burnt out. The pandemic left endless time to think about how I could solve my problems. One of which was knowing that there were great breweries all over LA, but getting to them was a serious pain and most of the best ones weren’t available at the grocery. I blindly walked into an idea and got lucky finding some great team members to put it together and bring it to reality. That’s Brwtxt (brewtext, you know, how you would spell it in text.😉). Entrepreneurship is a daily rollercoaster of ups and downs and self doubt but it’s also exhilarating when something works the way you envisioned it. I’m excited about how I can help the community and what we can achieve.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As any entrepreneur will tell you bootstrapping is hard. Making choices everyday about what direction to go and not knowing if it’s right or wrong is hard. I’ve had a steep learning curve on building and developing tech. The word “edge cases” haunts my dreams. Now we go into the world of fundraising which has new challenges i will endeavor to overcome and learn what kind of “edge cases” live in this realm.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’ve mostly been a versatile leader in the entertainment industry. I have experience working across feature films, linear
and digital entertainment and had success as both an executive and an entrepreneur. Having
worked on Academy Award winning films and successful original digital shows I’m driven by an
insatiable curiosity and desire to build the new.

Benefitting from traditional development & production training under Peter Rice at Fox Searchlight,
on successful films like Juno, Notorious and Sideways, I translated that into a successful run
across digital properties like Evolve Media, cable channels MTV and Fuse and ran a digital studio at
DanceOn. As the world of entertainment continues to evolve, I dove in deeper and begin authoring
and executing strategies at Audible, Share Ventures and a number of self driven entrepreneurial
ventures.
A graduate of the University of California, San Diego with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication, I
enjoys exploring Southern California, excellent fish dishes, great craft beer (duh) and San Francisco Giants Baseball.
