Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Neale.
Jamie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
As a director, writer, movement coach, and creative. it’s sometimes tricky to understand your identity because you love creating and making as equally as you love business and building teams. I started in the creative arts by attending an art school back in the UK. Learned my craft for understanding how to be creative, and how to cultivate it.
Over the last decade, I have explored many areas of the art world and finally, I feel like I am where I am supposed to be.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Not at all, there have been many ups and down. Having a strong family and support network (highly recommend seeking a mentor).
One of my struggles was dealing with that I wished everyone liked me, but then I understood that I don’t need everyone to like me. I don’t like everyone so why should they like me?
The second and final one is kindness to myself, being a slight perfectionist and aspiring to be better and consume more constantly you can be harsh to yourself.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
The project I am most proud of is working for Nike. Every campaign/project is rooted in a cultural/social story that millions/billions can connect to. If you can create work that ultimately changes the way people perceive their life, I believe that is a good result. One of the projects with Nike was the Colin Kaepernick campaign a few years back which hit media around the world with such a defining voice and tone, another that springs to mind was the US Open women’s tennis tournament working with 12 of the leading female tennis stars.
A final memory that I am most proud to be part of and didn’t expect was the Emmy nomination in 2019 for a TV Show that I was part of called “My Dinner With Herve”. It was nominated in the category for Outstanding Television Movie. A very surreal moment.
What sets me apart from others is my ability to ingest creativity from all around me and channel it. Art is everything, there are so many stimulus. Real creativity to knowing how to cultivate it within yourself and others.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My mum encouraging me to take drama classes and join in drama activities like plays/productions. Without the sheer support from my family. I would not be here.
