Daily Inspiration: Meet Jacquelin Napal and Kat Emery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacquelin Napal and Kat Emery.

Hi Jacquelin and Kat, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Art Angels first opened doors in 2013, at the time there were very few female-founded galleries in the industry. At the core of our ethos, we really take pride in being a female-founded business. We strive to bring a sophisticated yet approachable experience to our clients, whether a first-time or experienced collector. We love to support our artists by continuously proving to be an innovative gallery, which has been so important for our evolution as a gallery over the last eight years.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
With all businesses there are going to be hurdles, but we are a team that believes in focusing on solutions rather than problems. As of lately, I think all businesses have faced a lot of issues coming out of the pandemic and adjusting during those times. We are a very interactive business– from viewing works of art in person, within our space, to entering our client’s homes for delivery and hosting events for exhibitions. We really had to pivot and be proactive during that time. We opened the first gallery event with on-site covid testing, which was received well from our clientele. Additionally, we really leaned into technological trends and digitization of our business to keep things moving during the difficult time– such as utilizing video messaging, social media, and crypto trends to our advantage.

We have learned to be a solution-driven business– we provide our clients with solutions to their homes and personal collections. Additionally, we believe in accepting all challenges and focusing solely on their solutions. If people can’t come to the gallery– we will bring the gallery to them. If social media algorithms change– we will expand the gallery into opportunities with more organic reach and partnerships. We value ourselves to not be confined to the standard gallery image, we want our clients, artists, and competitors to know that we are quick on a pivot and accept change and growth within our industry.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As a gallery, we do so much more than simply sell art. A huge part of our job is to make sure our artists feel taken care of just as much as our collectors and clientele. We’re constantly working with them on conceptualizing new ideas, events and making sure they’re feeling balanced in order to create. Lately, we’ve been working to expand our own capabilities as a gallery to assist our artists to achieve their visions… we’ve been conceptualizing events, marketing, and partnerships that will help expand our gallery presence and the talented artists that work with us. That’s what we love most about our work– to work in an industry where creativity is so coveted, we can be an artist of our own craft. And our craft is the beautiful business we created to support the arts– Art Angels.

Additionally, we love to work with other businesses to expand our creativity and presence. We work with interior designers and real estate developers all over to help better serve their businesses with exceptional art. We love to focus on these projects because it allows our team to be creative. We love to work with so many different interior styles and local architecture, it’s amazing to see the end result of a project. Art has a beautiful way of serving as a delicate thread which can be used to tie together multiple creative visions on a single project. That’s art!

What makes you happy?
We absolutely love to serve our clients with the best experience and the best works of art. We’re in the business of providing goods and services — our happiness comes in the positive receipt of those items. We love to see our creative vision come to life in our client and partners’ spaces. Our happiness comes from adding a splash of color, here and there, to our global clientele.

We pride ourselves on bringing our upbeat energy to work everyday, which we believe that warmth can be felt throughout our gallery.
