Daily Inspiration: Meet Iisha Byas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Iisha Byas.

Hi Iisha, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Mother of three (two are in college) – baking came easily and regularly (for both family and friends). While pregnant with my last child (now 13) I decided to go to culinary school (Art Institute of Los Angeles – Santa Monica) to get my 2nd degree in Baking and Patisserie.  Once I started offering my desserts/baked goods online to family and friends – word of mouth did the rest and Sugar Rush by Iisha was born! My newest business breakoff is “Sugar Rush presents LOVE by Iisha” – still providing all the delicious desserts you need, but now we include meal prep, private catering and LOVE products!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I am a divorced mother of three – an only child, from a single, teenaged mother. I don’t know what an easy road is!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have over 20 years of private chef experience, including 10 years as a certified pastry chef for corporate kitchens, hotel dining and multiple film studios. In 2019 I began personalizing meal preparation services (for both individuals and/or families); elaborate or intimate, casual or fine dining events are also available, preparing culinary creations in private homes, on yachts, in luxury hotels.

I also collaborate with various event planners/coordinators.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memories involve having food fights with my mother, playing card games and solving puzzles with my mom. She also taught me how to roller skate and to love to be “outside”.
