Today we’d like to introduce you to Heroek .
Hi Heroek, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m a young music producer, artist, and podcast host. Starting out as a YouTube content creator, I eventually shifted into making mashups of songs and uploading them to YouTube. I later fell in love with the production side of music, and began working on my own original music, inspired by some of my favorite artists. I’ve released both solo and collaborative music, and have always been completely independent. My goal is to continue making music of my own, as well as with collaborators, that helps send a message of positivity and improving one’s mental health. I also host my own podcast, Hero’s Journey, where I talk to music artists and other public figures about their careers, and how they got started.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting this journey as a teenager, lots of people I try to collaborate with in music or podcasting see my age as inexperience, and are hesitant to work with me.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I like to say I’m a music producer, but I think “creator” would be a better way of putting it. In the big picture, I mainly focus on my music and podcast, but so much additional work goes into all of that, from designing thumbnails to editing the podcast videos and promoting everything. Plus, I also run a second YouTube channel where I make content for my other interests, like gaming and vinyl records. At the moment, that channel has uploads going out every day.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I’ve taken risks that have both worked out well and poorly. I’d say the biggest risks I take come when trying to find podcast guests, as I’m very gung-ho about it and work hard to try and book guests. While it’s not a huge risk, there have been times where I’ll get in contact with an artist’s or band’s manager to have them on the podcast, and continue emailing them after the podcast to see if I could interview more of their talent. I don’t see that as too much a risk, because it’s getting their clients more publicity at the end of the day, but there have definitely been lots of emails I’ve sent to no response.
