Daily Inspiration: Meet George Tovar

Today we’d like to introduce you to George Tovar.

Hi George, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have been an actor/magician my whole life. I started performing at restaurants as a strolling magician while I attended various acting classes in Hollywood. Then as I progressed I would have a balance between working professionally as a magician and working as an actor on TV, in commercials, stage.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being an entertainer has always been a rocky road. Whenever you finish a job, you are then tasked with looking for your next job. Luckily for me, I have always been able to get booked for work but it is not a certainty.

An instructor once told me that an entertainer’s career is never a straight-up path but a series of ups and downs but that hopefully over a full career you have had enough ups so that it looks like you have climbed a mountain. This has always sustained me throughout my life!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As I said, I am an actor and a magician. Magically I was fortunate at a very young age to be selected to apprentice with the prestigious Magic Castle in Hollywood. Through the years I have performed there and also in Las Vegas, cruise ships, and magical theaters around the country as well as many private home and corporate performances.

My specialty is performing what is known as Close-up Magic and was nominated as Magician of the Year for one of the showrooms at the World Famous Magic Castle. This is a private Club for magicians and their guests as is considered the Radio City Musical Hall for magicians around the world.

As an actor, I have worked in Theatre, Movies, Television, and Commercials. I am currently starring in a play Off-Broadway called “Our Man in Santiago”. Working Off-Broadway has been a bucket list item my entire life. It has been very fulfilling doing this show and we are getting great reviews here in New York as we did in Hollywood a year earlier.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
As an Actor, I am listed on the IMDB page and I guess people can rate me there and raise my standing on this page. I also have a Facebook page and an Instagram account that people can support.
