Today we’d like to introduce you to Frank B.
Hi Frank, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Since I was little, I had two dreams, to be a veterinarian or a photographer. I managed to study veterinary medicine but soon realized that it was not my thing, much to the chagrin of my parents. My restless mind of creating audiovisual content of being creative made me change my destiny. Today I work in the multimedia sector where I can also dedicate myself to what I have always loved, photography.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It was not an easy road. When you start working in the audiovisual world, you see that at first it is a sector that is not very well paid, you have to combine it with other types of work. My friends and those around me saw me as a dreamer. While they were going to get married, have children, have a stable job and a solid future. I kept fighting for my dream of being able to live from work that I really like, also being able to travel, to be able to meet interesting people all over the world. In the end, I think I managed a little. Sure, I’ve had to give up a lot of things for this, but at the end of the day, I only have one life.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I do from graphic design to videos. But photography is something very special to me. At the moment of pressing the camera button, you are there in front of a great stage, a curious thing, an interesting person who has caught your attention, the greatness of nature. You are in this unrepeatable moment in time interacting with your environment. In addition, everything you have felt and thought at this precise moment is linked to this photograph forever. If I can convey this to another person who sees the image, that’s when I can feel proud.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
When you work on something that you really like, you are putting something of yourself in each job because it is part of your being and there will always be people who will value it. My work is not only my means of sustaining myself financially, they are one of the pillars of my life as a person and as a means of expressing myself.
