Daily Inspiration: Meet Faith Schueler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Faith Schueler.

Hi Faith, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Growing up, I always had a passion for music. I loved to sing and dance and put on a performance everywhere I went. I began taking piano lessons when I was nine years old. As years passed, I grew more and more in love with singing. I knew by the age of 13 years old I wanted to pursue singing as a career. I began playing and singing in coffee shops around my hometown. I also started learning how to write my own music. I grew up in church singing which allowed me to really get comfortable singing on stage in front of a large audience. In 2018, I recorded my very first single and I have been consistently pursuing a career as a recording artist since then. In 2019, I went to Nashville and recorded my very first EP, “One Love Song at a Time”.

Since I started recording, I have had the opportunity to work with some of the most amazing and well-known writers in Nashville such as Greg Bieck, Marcus Hummon, Kris Bergsenes, Jordan Lawhead, and Marti Dodson. I have also worked with other well-known writers and producers outside of Nashville such as Elliott Elsey, Eddie Bush, and Jeff Timmons from the band 98 degrees. During the year of 2020, I met my manager Jeff Gulko who has helped open so many doors for me and who works hard every day to help make our dream become reality. In the past year, I have released multiple singles such as “March On Girl”, “Rainy Day Lover”, and “Getting Over You”. I plan to continue recording and releasing more music throughout the year of 2021. I am so blessed and so grateful for all of the wonderful friendships I have made along my journey as a country artist and I hope to one day be able to help someone as these people have helped me. My story has just begun.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being a country artist is definitely not easy and doesn’t happen for most people overnight. I have definitely faced many obstacles and have had to overcome things along the way. Growing up, I was extremely invested in my career. I would go from school to homework to vocal lessons, practices, or performances. Because of this, I did not have much time to spend with friends and I had to learn how to basically run a business from a very young age, with the help of my parents of course. Another thing I had to realize is not everyone is going to see your dream the way you see your dream. I often felt as though I wasn’t respected or taken seriously because of how young I was. I learned that I can’t let what others say bring me down and I had to keep pushing and working hard towards my ultimate goal. Not only did I have to invest a lot of time in my career, but so did my parents. They would run me around from show to show unloading my equipment or taking time off to go to the recording studio, taking me to practice to voice lessons, or taking trips with me. Fortunately, I have amazing parents who want to see me chase and achieve my dream so they still support me in every way and they are my biggest fans! Another obstacle I had to face is understanding that not everything I do is going to be perfect, and I won’t always get results right away. Some things take time and I had to learn that it is okay to fail and start over. The most important thing is that you pick yourself up and try again even harder and learn to take constructive criticism.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I describe myself a country music artist with a pop and soul twist. Growing up, I loved all different genres of music, especially R&B. Country music was the style of music I felt most connected to. I grew up in a small town in South Carolina where I was raised on country music. When I decided I wanted to be a country artist, I wanted to incorporate some soulful pop elements as well. I feel as though that is what sets me apart of others. Something I am most proud of is how hard I have worked and all the things I have accomplished along the way. I never expected anything to be handed to me and I was raised to always work for what you want. To have come this far in my career, I can say I am proud of myself. Another thing I am proud of is how my music has helped others. For example, when I released my song “March On Girl” which is all about encouraging and uplifting women, I got so many amazing responses from girls fighting cancer, illness, overcoming abuse, depression, etc., saying that my song helped them and touched them. That to me, is the most amazing thing I could do, to help people and encourage people with my music and leave an impact on their lives.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
One of my favorite apps to read is the Bible app. It has so many amazing and encouraging scriptures and devotionals that have helped me throughout my career. One of my absolute favorite bible verses is Jeremiah 29:11 which states, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” This verse is very encouraging and has reminded me throughout my life to trust God’s plans and His timing.
