Daily Inspiration: Meet Eric Summers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Summers

Hi Eric , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
So it all started 2022 I was doing an R&D for a restaurant in downtown and when I was driving back on the 210 freeway, it came to me of coming up with a cookbook and including the motorcycle world that I’ve been in for over 15 years. I made a phone call to my best friend and shot the idea across. So the concept of this cookbook that is called Iron & Fire: the motorcyclist cookbook is about bringing the Motorcycle community together to showcase their cooking skills, charities and community projects that they are involved in. Recipes in the book will be featured by myself and other SoCal bikers. There are various chapters that spotlight, the Biker recipes from home cooks to fine dining. The book was not only designed to include recipes, but also included Photography and Art from the Biker community.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like everyone else living in Southern California it’s difficult finding time. Time was taken away from me and the book when I had a motorcycle accident November 2022. Which left me severely injured. Luckily I was able to make a full recovery and now I have more time to focus on my book outside of nursing school, work as a behavioral therapist, charity and community events.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a behavioral therapist that works with children with autism in the LAUSD area. I feel like creativity outside of work is what I specialize in and patience inside of work. I am definitely proud of working in the medical field and the achievements I have reached and the goals that I look forward to obtain. Helping out the community and healthcare. I find time to do community outreach and charitable events.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up here in the valley I was your typical latchkey kid. I was very involved in playing sports like Little League at Tarzana Park track and field at Reseda high school, surfing Topanga Canyon, and riding motorcycles throughout the valley area.
