Daily Inspiration: Meet Eddie Pimentel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eddie Pimentel

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My musical journey began with a turning point during Eric Clapton’s 2011 tour in Brazil, when I had the chance to meet my producer, Tim Carmon. Our shared admiration for music led to an instant friendship, and his encouragement played a pivotal role in my decision to move to Los Angeles in 2014. There, I studied at the Musicians Institute (Guitar Institute of Technology) and had the opportunity to perform with several renowned artists in the city.

In 2016, Tim and I started recording together in the studio, and we brought in some incredible musicians to join us, including Gorden Campbell (Whitney Houston) on drums, Courtney Leonard (Beyoncé) on bass, Charlean Carmon (Stevie Wonder) and Sydne Rose-Myett (Squad Harmonix) on backing vocals, with Wesley Chaney contributing more guitar textures. Wesley also co-wrote some of the songs with me.

As a guitarist from Rio de Janeiro, my first album, One Way Home, was released in September of this year. Produced by Tim Carmon, the album includes eight original tracks, two covers, and several bonus pieces. It’s my debut in international blues and soul music, with deeply personal compositions that reflect my experiences living in the United States—a time that brought both success and personal losses. The album is now available on streaming platforms.

To cap off an exciting year, I’m releasing my new Christmas EP, ”0:00am Merry Christmas”, on December 13th. Also recorded in Los Angeles and produced by Tim Carmon, this EP features three tracks and will be available on all streaming platforms. This is my second project of the year, following ”One Way Home”, which helped solidify my place in the international blues and soul music scene.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Yes and no at the same time! The good side of doing a project like this nowadays is the freedom I have as an artist, especially with Tim always around, giving me so much space to do what I feel like doing. So, I believe that now, more than ever, you should write and record your true, authentic self, without worrying about whether it’s acceptable to others or not.

The biggest challenge nowadays, especially since for a long time it was just me and my producer, was doing everything ourselves—like recording, producing, arranging, distributing, marketing, design, video making, photos, websites, studio work, and so on. But I’m really fortunate to say that today we have a small crew working together. We just recorded 27 songs at once in the studio, and we released my first solo album, One Way Home, last September, celebrating it with our first international tour. Next month, on December 13th, we’ll be releasing our new Christmas EP, called 0:00am Merry Christmas.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a guitarist, singer, and songwriter! I play the blues with a mixture of soul, pop, and rock. I’m most proud of making my dreams come true by putting together a group of musicians with this American sonic signature. I’ve always had in mind a specific set of elements that create sonic unity. I enjoy using my lower-register voice along with my American band, featuring a lot of acoustic guitar in the mixes, complemented by analog tube-distorted Stratocaster tones. This sonic blend is incorporated into my original songs, which often include Brazilian chords and arrangements. I also love throwing in guitar solos and heavy amp breakup tones. Being a Brazilian musician and blending with these different influences brings a unique flavor to the project.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
It’s always about finding common ground and sharing similar tastes. From the very beginning of my career, this has been the way it works, whether with my bandmates, producer, songwriting partners, marketing team, PR, designers, and so on. The best way for an artistic project to be successful is to have mutual admiration and passion for the same field and style of work. And of course, I’m always available via inbox on my Instagram @eddiepimentelofficial.
