Daily Inspiration: Meet Davide Baroncini

Today we’d like to introduce you to Davide Baroncini. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Davide Roberto Baroncini was born in Catania, a small town in Sicily, Italy from a large, happily humble family, last of six, Papa’ Francesco mechanic and mamma Carmela full-time mother.

Since the begin of his professional career Baroncini showed a very remarkable selling skill and a pretty distinction sense of esthetic and passion for men’s clothing and lifestyle.

Very young left Sicily, Baroncini arrived in Milan, starting working in Fashion with Suitsupply, young suiting Dutch company, starting in Milan, what it was about to be a strong professional path with the company, living, working and representing the brand in the UK, North of Europe, China and USA.

While in Holland Baroncini, sponsored and financed by the company, Baroncini received his master’s degree in Sales & Management at the Human Academy in Utrecht, house of the behaviorist Bart Tempstra, one of the Baroncini mentors in his young age, at the begin of his professional career.

In 2013 Baroncini moved to USA responsible of expansion of the brand across the country, after reaching his goals Baroncini left Suitsupply in early 2014 joining Brunello Cucinelli Baroncini started to cover almost all the dept. of the public luxury brand operating between North America, Canada and Italy, wholesale, retail, VM dept, VIP program and PR the skills developed while at Brunello, styling profiles such as Howard Schultz, Stacey Griffith but also Ryan Reynolds, Dev Patel, Daniel Craig, protecting and promoting the esthetic of the Italian cashmere company for over four years.

In March 2018, after gently refusing a generous offer from the brand to move back to the Christmas motherland, Baroncini decided to move to Pasadena, CA marrying Pia, (Lara Pia Arrobio), CMO of the company today and founding Ghiaia Cashmere LLC, knitwear brand with the goal to introduce in the market a luxury high-quality garment.

GHIAIA has a clear and Cristal mission, connecting the client with the core of the brand-Baroncini says, “For us, the most important component is WHY We do what We do and that’s what ultimately today the clients are looking forward, People buy Why you do what you do and not just WHAT you do as company”. Francesco his father is the Brand Ambassador, and the branding and marketing strategy is focused on telling to clients The Ghiaia Stories – real people, with real and very normal life mat during Baroncini journey in the State.

Essential men’s Silhouettes, Cashmere, Cotton and Fine gauge, exclusively Made in Italy, designed in Pasadena, headquarter of Ghiaia Cashmere, home of the Baroncini’s, childhood House Of Pia Baroncini, happily shared with Margaret, Pia’s mother and with Ciro Bulldog puppy.

Ghiaia is today exclusively distributed in North America by Neiman Marcus group, recently approached the direct Ghiaia customers with Ghiaiacashmere.com.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Making cashmere sweaters on South of California might not be the easiest way to find your way through, 🙂

When I left Brunello, it was challenging for me to create something that wasn’t Brunello, I had to bring myself out of that brand morally, personally and professionally.

At the begin when I first moved out here in California, it was extremely challenging to express myself and to have people seeing my vision and understanding what I wanted to create, I struggled and I experienced the lowest point of my career I had to start again and I wasn’t that young anymore, my wife was my rock is thanks to her that I found the strength and the confidence to start all over again. She was the only one believing in my vision. She supported me I experience some hard times, but looking back at that time I can say that it definitely defines me.

You have to touch the ground before being able to go somewhere, every accomplishment requires that.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I built Ghiaia on my dedication to work, experience and passion for what I do. My father, Francesco, was a mechanic. I watched him leaving the house every day with sun not yet up, he would fall asleep exhausted on a chair right after dinner, with his work jumpsuit still on, with his hands broke and dirty and his face marked by the fatigue. Myself and the place where I came from is what sets Ghiaia apart from the rest of the other brands in the market. I believe that people today buy the “Why” you do something, they buy what you believe in and what you stand for, and not simply what you or how you do it.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My wife on all of them.

I was lucky enough to meet and to work on the vision of incredible men, visionary in the men’s industry.

Working for the brands I did, traveling around the world and being able to learn every aspect of this business working for these companies is undeniably my biggest asset.
