Today we’d like to introduce you to Dani Walker.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey with Youtube, that lead to a coaching business, was unexpected. I began by posting a few videos that were the answers to common questions I received about pageants. Without making an effort to grow the channel, I started attracting subscribers. It was then that I got curious about Youtube and wanted to learn more. I was very naive at the beginning and learned that people actually made money from Youtube videos; I had no idea that was possible at the time. Since I enjoyed sharing my knowledge, I decided it would be a fun outlet that could possibly bring in some extra revenue. Little did I know at the time, it would become my full-time job.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it wasn’t smooth at all. I faced a lot of criticism for pursuing Youtube and there were times when I felt uninspired to create content or the channel’s views plateaued. Till this day, some of my family members are still confused about what I do for work and aren’t fully convinced that I have a job. Today, I’m happy that I didn’t let other’s opinions of my work stop me from doing what I love.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My Youtube channel is a resource for pageant contestants around the world. But since its creation, it’s attracted pageant fans, directors, people that are curious about pageantry, or those who want to invest time in personal growth. Early in my journey, my channel was known for my “Road to Miss USA” series. I shared about my journey as a Miss USA contestant. Since I no longer compete, I spend my time judging competitions, coaching and recapping pageants. My channel is unique because I offer the perspective of a titleholder, coach, judge, and someone who’s also worked behind the scenes for several pageant organizations. In addition to my life and its relation to pageantry, I also share my life with my subscribers through travel vlogs. Although I coach contestants one-on-one, I’m most proud that I am able to reach contestants around the world and help them achieve their goals, even if we’ve never met face-to-face.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I love listening to podcasts. Some of my favorites are Jenna Kutcher’s Goal Digger podcast and The Influencer podcast with Julie Solomon.
