Daily Inspiration: Meet Curtis Rose

Today we’d like to introduce you to Curtis Rose.

Hi Curtis, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Growing up I was always into shoes and clothes. My dad was somewhat of a fashion guy with a love for the Bulls and MJ so he always kept me laced in Jordans. In High School is where I really started to fall in love with sneakers, mainly the Air Force 1. I am from a small town on Cape Cod, MA where there were no shoe stores. Luckily for me, my sister went to college in Boston so almost every weekend I would go visit her and go shopping in the city. I was being exposed to a culture/lifestyle that I didn’t realize at the time. Years later I moved to LA with my fiancé and I was still buying shoes. I have always been pretty blessed/lucky and won raffles for random things and it naturally spilled over to the sneaker world. I was constantly getting hard to release shoes and one day a friend put the idea in my head to start a business within sneakers. I started out as a reseller but always saw myself as more than that. I wanted to be a brand, having my own shoe store and clothing brand was always an idea in my head growing up. I would begin to create things to try and stand out and to get people to remember me. I wrote a short story called “Saturday Morning Sneakerhead” and partnered with a lab to create my own all-natural sneaker cleaner. Most recently I decided to make sneaker air fresheners and now I am making socks. I just love sneakers and creating things so I figure why not create things and see what the people like and if something works I got a hit, if not I am still at bat and ready for the next one.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
For some time it was a slow road with ups and downs but my GPS has always been set on making Plenty Sneakers into a household brand someway, somehow. There have been times I have slowed down because I was unsure if people would receive the product well or even want to spend there hard earned money on it but my passion fuels me to make it happen and block out the negative thoughts because I know when it’s all said and done I am doing this for a reason. The blessings I have received in the sneaker game so far have proven I am on the right path.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
In my professional career, I have mainly worked in the B2B/B2C customer service industry the past few years working for some top tech companies. I pride myself on being able to genuinely relate to a client or customer and find a solution to their issue, rather than the typical representatives that provide fake empathy. I go above and beyond to make sure the client and/or customer is satisfied with their product and service professionally and with my own small business. Whether that be sending clients random free gifts or contacting a retailer on a customer’s behalf because they are unable to do so themselves.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Growing up as a teenager every few summers my mom and sister would travel to the UK to visit family. This would allow my dad and I a week or 2 just meet and him where he would take me on a different adventure each day. We would go to theme parks, sporting events, shopping, etc. Every day he planned something different for me and til this day I treasure those times with my pops.
