Today we’d like to introduce you to Cory Danziger
Hi Cory, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve spent nearly my entire life working in entertainment and art. As a child and teenager, I was an actor in film and television. I was fortunate to have some great success in front of the camera. I was Tom Hanks’ son in The Burbs, I was one of the characters on the series Beauty and the Beast. I did episodes of a lot of popular shows from back in those days…Star Trek, Empty Nest, Eerie Indiana. I stopped acting to go to college, and then when I graduated, I worked as a writer of television commercials. Then, I met Ravi Dosaj, an artist, and we began working together on creative projects. We go by the name SceneFour, and we have spent the last twenty years working on fine art collections that are created with acclaimed musicians. These are collaborations and are a lot of fun as we get to work creatively with musical artists that we personally like a lot. We’ve done art releases with Chuck D, Bootsy Collins, The RZA, members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Black Sabbath, Janes Addiction and a ton more. In recent years, I’ve also been working on my own art and have written several books (“Sh!t I Know for Sure” and “On Manifesting”).
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Life is very “lifey.” So no, it has not been a smooth ride. It’s been a bumpy one, and I learned early on to embrace that part of life. Life is like a plane flight, there’s a lot of turbulence as you ascend and grow. I’ve experienced a lot of challenges, set backs, and been derailed at various points, but that’s part of the ingredients to success in my opinion. I talk a lot about this stuff in my books.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’ve spent the last two decades as a Conceptual Artist in the creative art team SceneFour. My partner Ravi and I have worked exclusively on fine art collections that are music-centric. We’re probably best known for our Rhythmic Expressionist works. These are abstract art pieces created by drummers through their performance. Like a painter uses brushes with oils, these acclaimed drummers work with drumsticks that light as they perform and the rhythm is captured to canvas. The results are astonishing – vivid, colorful, and conceptually unique.
I’m also creating and releasing artwork independently that I’m very excited about. I just completed a series of 150 collages that are going to be showcased in a coffee table book titled A Playboy Legacy. The project was a highly personal one, as I took the Playboy Magazine collection I inherited from my father when he passed away and crafted art pieces from the imagery. It’s been a beautiful experience to make these works. The book will available at www.corydanziger.com.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I’d like to think that more folks will be motivated to make artwork to inspire others, as inspiration is really needed in the world right now.
