Daily Inspiration: Meet Citlalli Pacheco & Andrea Goytia-Pinzon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Citlalli Pacheco & Andrea Goytia-Pinzon.

Hi Citlalli Pacheco & Andrea Goytia-Pinzon, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Citlalli and Andrea have been friends for over five years when the idea for Amigis first began to take shape. The two often found themselves talking about how hard it had become to meet new people, especially after the pandemic and being in their twenties. Outside of school or work, there just didn’t seem to be many spaces to build genuine friendships. They both reminisced about the joy of girlhood and how easy and natural it once felt to play, connect, and share life with other girls and how much they missed that feeling.

In late 2022, Citlalli started noticing a rise in social clubs, communities where people hosted events specifically to make friends. She brought the idea to Andrea, and they began imagining what it would look like to start a group of their own. A space rooted in friendship, fun, and shared experiences. By January 2023, Amigis was born.

The purpose of Amigis is simple but powerful: to create a welcoming space for women to come together, make new friends, and celebrate all the joy that comes with girlhood and womanhood. One thing that sets Amigis apart is its “no boys allowed” rule. While not everyone may agree with that boundary, Citlalli and Andrea feel strongly that women deserve spaces where they can be fully themselves without the pressures or dynamics that often arise in mixed-gender settings. On the rare occasion a man is invited, it’s only after being personally vetted and trusted.

The name “Amigis” is a playful twist on “amiguis,” a Spanish slang term for “besties,” and it reflects the group’s unapologetic identity: Latina, women-centered, joyful, and rooted in friendship. Now in its third year, Amigis is continuing to grow, and Citlalli and Andrea are excited about what’s ahead—new events, new connections, and an even deeper commitment to creating sisterhood, community and letting your inner child run free.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road and Citlalli and Andrea are the first to laugh and admit that! Like most passion projects, Amigis has had its share of ups and downs. While they both care deeply about the community they’re building, the reality is that they also work full-time jobs. Balancing their careers with what is essentially a second full-time commitment to Amigis has been one of their biggest challenges.

From brainstorming event ideas, designing flyers and social media content, to promoting and managing all the logistics. It’s a lot of behind-the-scenes work. On top of that, they often handle everything from buying supplies and prepping food to setting up décor and coordinating with vendors. It’s a labor of love, but it’s still labor.

There are moments of discouragement, especially when an event doesn’t go as planned or the turnout is lower than expected. At times, it can feel like all the effort isn’t paying off. But those feelings quickly fade when an event goes beautifully, when the room feels full of warmth and connection. It’s in those moments, when someone says they look forward to every monthly meetup or that Amigis is the one place they feel they can relax and be themselves, that Citlalli and Andrea are reminded why they started all this. Watching women grow in confidence, make new friends, and find community, it makes every challenge worth it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Amigis is a social club founded by Citlalli and Andrea, designed specifically for women to come together, make new friends, and simply have fun. The club hosts a wide range of events, from annual tea parties to museum outings, zoo and aquarium visits, brunches, dinners, park days, Galentine’s Day celebrations, karaoke nights, and even evenings at the ballet. Each gathering is thoughtfully planned with the intention of creating joyful, welcoming spaces where women can feel safe and free to be their full selves.

What Citlalli and Andrea are most proud of is the strong sense of community they’ve cultivated. One where women can be vulnerable, silly, bold, and happy, and always feel supported. Amigis isn’t just about events; it’s about building lasting friendships and rediscovering the joy of connection.

What sets Amigis apart is its firm commitment to being a women-only space. The club’s “no boys allowed” rule is central to its identity, creating an environment free from external pressures and rooted in sisterhood. They also prioritize supporting women-owned businesses, whether they’re hiring vendors, sourcing event supplies, or choosing local spots to host meetups. And above all, they stay true to themselves embracing fun, creativity, and the freedom to be a little silly along the way.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
For Citlalli and Andrea, one of the most effective ways to network has been getting out into the community and simply talking to people. While they absolutely use social media and digital tools to connect, promote, and share what Amigis is up to, they’ve found that adding a personal touch makes all the difference.

When promoting bigger events, they love to be out and about putting up flyers, introducing themselves to local businesses, and engaging with people face-to-face. One standout example was their recent Princess Tea Party event, where they hand-delivered invitations to both members and nearby businesses. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with many people expressing appreciation for the intentional and personal gesture.

They also prioritize building relationships with local women-owned businesses. In 2023, they collaborated with Be Nice Have Fun in Highland Park for their Galentine’s Day event. Since then, they’ve connected with more amazing businesses like Earthy Corazón in East LA and Dym Book & Boba Shop in Pasadena. These partnerships have not only expanded their network, but also strengthened the sense of community Amigis is all about.

Ultimately, their advice is simple: get outside, talk to people, and don’t underestimate the power of a warm introduction. Combine that with a strong online presence, and you’ll build meaningful, lasting connections.
