Daily Inspiration: Meet Ciena Rae Gomez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ciena Rae Gomez

Hi Ciena Rae, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always been drawn to fashion, different mediums of art, and other creative pursuits. I grew up in northern California. I’ve lived in many different places, and being in many different environments has taught me much about myself. One of these things is that I’m not a go-with-the-flow person. I trust myself and my gut feelings. Moving to LA was a gut feeling. I love that people aren’t afraid to dream here. People are trying to break out of the molds they grew up in. It’s equally inspiring and terrifying to watch. I enjoy it. It shakes things up and moves me out of my comfort zone.

The way my ideas manifest is more visionary because of my psychic and energy-healing background. I’ve worked as a psychic for the past five years. I have my practice called GAIA Healing Method, which I created after being so entrenched in the industry for so long at such a young age. The energy healing work I do to be of service to others and art is my way of being of service to me. It balances out the scales. I wouldn’t necessarily define my relationship with art as a process, perhaps just more of a cyclical expression and progression. It’s almost like I go out into the world, and then eventually, I end up back at the canvas. It’s always been that way. Painting and drawing have helped me evolve and understand myself on deeper levels.

With creative direction and modeling, it’s all about collaboration and reaching a shared vision. I am a sponge and can work virtually under any set of conditions. It’s always great to meet people with new perspectives, experiences, and knowledge and see how everything comes together.

It’s a journey… I always have a few things going on at once. I have to be working on things and growing, or I start to feel stagnant, which I hate.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been pretty rocky, especially over the last few years. Oof. Many of the growing pains have been about being patient and trusting the process. You can’t expect things to happen overnight. Things that last take time to build. And even then, sometimes, they still fail. My good friend always says, “Sometimes your best isn’t good enough”. It’s true. And people can let you down, even if they don’t mean to. People will come and kick you when you’re down, too. It can be brutal.

Resilience and compassion are so important. I’m a sensitive person, so I have had to give myself time to recover and honor my feelings. Rough times always profoundly realign me and bring me closer to who I am. They may make you weak for a moment, but through healing, you become stronger and more savvy than ever.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a multimedia artist- mainly focused on creative direction, oil painting, and fashion. I also own an energy-healing practice. As of now, I am most known for Gaia. The practice gained some quick traction this summer on Instagram (@gaiahealingmethod), but I have been well-established in the industry for 5 years now. I am working on pouring myself more into art, creative direction, and styling.

I’m really proud of my ability to seek new experiences, to evolve, and my resilience. A lot of the moves I make are based on intuition, rather than logic. Even if it’s risky, you have to trust what feels right. If you lead from the heart and have integrity, you’ll fall into alignment and everything will make sense. Even if it’s a longer road, it’s worth it.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I don’t think there’s much that would surprise people who know me or my work. It seems like to people who know me that the more surprising something seems, the more predictable it is for it to be a part of me or my life. I’ve recently relocated to Paris. It’s refreshing to be in a new environment and challenge myself.
