Daily Inspiration: Meet Casey And Angie Corum

Today we’d like to introduce you to Casey And Angie Corum.

Casey and Angie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Stay Hello Sunshine flows naturally from who we are and what we love. Though we officially launched in 2021, the roots go back much further. I (Casey) have spent most of my career in music, writing songs, producing albums, and helping artists tell their stories. Much of that journey has been through the Vineyard movement, where I have served as a worship leader and mentor, while also creating for film and television. Angie brings her gift for design and hospitality. She can step into any space and immediately imagine how to make it more welcoming and beautiful.

For years, our home became the natural hub for gatherings with friends, family, musicians, neighbors, and our church community. We loved creating environments where people felt at ease, inspired, and truly cared for. When our home grew smaller and less suited for hosting, Stay Hello Sunshine became the natural extension of that spirit.

Today, SHS is a boutique vacation rental collection with properties in Orange County, Los Angeles, and the Santa Ynez Valley. Each property blends Angie’s eye for design with my focus on story and experience. Whether it is a poolside retreat for family adventures, a hillside duplex in Silver Lake, or a rustic farmhouse in wine country, our mission is the same: to provide a sanctuary where guests can unwind, reconnect, and make lasting memories.

As parents of four grown daughters and new grandparents to our grandson Bennett, family shapes everything we do. Some days that means walking alongside our kids in new seasons of life. Other days it is caring for my aging mom. That perspective is why we design our spaces with families in mind, with thoughtful kitchens, inviting common areas, and small details that make travel easier.

For us, Stay Hello Sunshine is more than vacation rentals. It is our way of living out hospitality, creativity, faith, and connection, welcoming guests into spaces where they can feel both cared for and free.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The path forward has not been without hurdles, and we are still navigating financial pressures. Building Stay Hello Sunshine requires careful orchestration across many fronts. Balancing family responsibilities—encouraging our four grown daughters, enjoying life as grandparents to our grandson Bennett, and caring for my elderly mom—alongside my commitments in Vineyard Worship, music production, and film/television, plus Angie’s design ventures and the daily work of managing rental properties, often feels like holding countless moving pieces together at once.

The short-term rental industry also carries complexities that are not immediately visible. Each city has its own regulations. Property upkeep, staffing, and maintaining the level of quality we promise to our guests create ongoing expenses. When seasonal slowdowns or sudden repairs occur, the financial pressure can increase quickly.

We live fairly small ourselves, so our own home is no longer the gathering place it once was when our kids were younger. That is part of why Stay Hello Sunshine is so meaningful. It allows us to extend hospitality outward even when our personal space is quieter. At the same time, our lives remain deeply woven into church and community. I continue to serve as a worship leader and creative guide within the Vineyard, while also producing music for artists and pitching songs for film and television. Angie continues to invest in people through her design and hospitality gifts. These commitments bring us deep fulfillment, though they also add layers of responsibility and time.

Despite these challenges, we are gaining valuable perspective. We are learning to delegate more, building systems that bring clarity, and shaping expansion plans that preserve the intimate, personal touch that makes SHS unique. When guests tell us they feel genuinely cared for, or that they do not want to leave, we are reminded that every struggle is worth it. For us, hospitality is both ministry and enterprise, and that vision keeps us moving forward.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At its core, our mission is to create spaces that feel both uplifting and deeply comfortable. Through Stay Hello Sunshine, we curate boutique vacation rentals that prioritize families, embrace thoughtful design, and maintain an intentionally personal approach. Instead of chasing scale in the short-term rental market, we aim for recognition built on care, warmth, and meticulous attention to detail.

Each property in our portfolio carries its own story. Silver Lake Sunshine, our hillside duplex, offers a tranquil retreat that draws creatives seeking inspiration. Our homes near Disneyland welcome families looking for theme park adventure by day and home-style comfort by night, complete with full kitchens for shared meals, pools for relaxation, and plenty of space to unwind together. In Solvang, Sunshine Farmhouse provides a rustic wine country escape. Whether guests choose urban convenience, poolside leisure, or countryside calm, every location is designed with soul and hospitality with purpose.

Angie brings the creative vision, infusing each space with imagination, warmth, and family practicality. I focus on operations and guest experience, building smooth systems, maintaining personal communication, and ensuring that every stay reflects our hospitality promise. Together, this balance of design sensibility and operational precision allows our homes to feel curated rather than mass-produced.

What brings us the most pride is the consistent feedback we receive from guests. They tell us they felt genuinely welcomed, could fully relax, and found our spaces fostered meaningful connections with their families and friends. For us, this confirms that we are offering more than accommodation. We are creating a temporary sense of belonging.

Stay Hello Sunshine is not simply a business. It reflects who we are. Our lives revolve around creativity, faith, and family, and these values flow into every property. Because we live modestly ourselves, building these homes gives us a way to extend hospitality beyond our own walls.

Looking ahead, we are eager to collaborate with property owners who want to enhance their spaces but lack the time or expertise to manage the process. We bring design experience, operational know-how, and a personal touch that helps properties shine in today’s competitive marketplace. Any big plans?
Looking ahead, we envision growing Stay Hello Sunshine with deliberate care and clear intention. Our goal is not to become the largest operator in the market, but to be known as a brand people trust for thoughtful design and authentic hospitality. This means adding properties selectively in locations that resonate with us while preserving the personal touches that make guests feel genuinely welcomed.

One significant opportunity we see is collaborating with fellow property owners. Many homes hold untapped potential that can flourish with the right blend of design expertise, hospitality focus, and operational management. We are eager to help owners unlock that potential and elevate their spaces.

We are also excited about expanding Hello Sunshine by Design, Angie’s creative division, which extends our interior design and staging services beyond our current collection. Whether guests book a stay, hire design services, or partner with us as co-hosts, they will encounter the same heart and vision.

From a family perspective, we are mindful of the generational impact we are creating. With four daughters and our grandson Bennett, we want to build something that reflects our core values of hospitality, creativity, and faith while leaving a meaningful legacy for the future.

Ultimately, our future centers on sustainable growth through carefully chosen properties, strategic partnerships, and new opportunities to create spaces where people can rest, reconnect, and experience true belonging.
