Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryan Mendez.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started to Make Up in my early 20’s. I have always been very Artistic since I was very young so I fell in love with The ART/ BEAUTY of make up. When I was 21, I booked an interview to work at one of my fave retail stores Sephora, where I fell in love with everything beauty.
Later on, I went onto working at MAC cosmetics. As my clientele grew, I started booking freelance gigs outside of MAC. I remember taking the bus everywhere from working the make up counter at MAC to client’s homes, with my very small kit at the time. I met my very first client @DanielleRobay which she encouraged me and pushed me to take the leap of faith and decided to leave MAC Cosmetics. At age 24, I began to work on DEFY studios doing both hairs & make up which allowed me to grow as an artist and met so many wonderful clients. On a work trip with DEFY/ CLEVVER to Coachella, I was fortunate to meet Ms. Rose aka Amber Rose. I then became her personal make up artist and we have glammed all over the US. My dedication, passion and NEVER give up attitude has allowed me to work and meet with many clients in the media.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
My career has most definitely not been a smooth road. I’m a strong believer in anything that’s worth having is worth fighting for. I would say biggest struggle would be leaving a consistent job to follow your dreams. Being freelance, you really don’t know when your next job will be so you always have to take jobs as they come.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am Make Up Artist in LA. I specialize in make up for Red Carpets, events, anything Media. My clients best know me for making my client’s complexion Natural and Radiant, Snatched and Natural. What would set me apart from others would be the ability to Cater and customize my client’s makeup to enhance and make them look and feel like the best version of themselves. One of my Proudest moments would be landing a spot in the makeup competition show GLAM MASTERS. I’m used to being behind the scenes and this opportunity allowed me to conquer one of my fears and inspired so many people around the world to follow their dreams.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love the best about my city LA, is the diversity and freedom.
