Daily Inspiration: Meet Breanne DeMack

Today we’d like to introduce you to Breanne DeMack.

Hi Breanne, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always had a passion for graphic design, even when I had no idea what it was! I was ten when we first got our computer and was obsessed with creating something from nothing. I made cards, posters, and banners for my family and friends and downloaded fonts for fun as a teen (my high school teachers HATED receiving my homework LOL) It wasn’t until I was 18 that someone told me I should be a graphic designer.

I had no idea what that was, so I searched what exactly a graphic designer does and could not believe I would be able to create art, play with fonts and colors, and actually get paid to do what I already loved! About six months later, I was off to college in Ventura to learn Visual Communications at Brooks Institute of Photography. I graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree in three years and was hired at a marketing agency right after graduation. I worked at a few other agencies but always told myself I would start my own business and be my own boss by the time I was 30. It wasn’t easy though, I had a full-time job and was in five local networking groups to grow my business, and that kept me extremely busy. If I wasn’t so active in the networking groups, I would have never been able to successfully start my own business, which I did accomplish at 30! It’s now been ten years, and I have stayed in one referral networking group that continues to keep me very busy with referrals!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Some of the challenges I faced while growing my business were much needed. I experienced a lot but one of the most important lessons I learned was to simply trust my gut. In the beginning, I would notice red flags with clients and ignore them. I used to take on any project just to get it, but now we have processes in place to make sure everything runs smoothly for everyone.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am very proud of the business I created. At Moonshine Marketing Group, we offer a variety of marketing services for any sized business or individual, all in one place. We offer Graphic Design, Printing, Promotional Products, Apparel, and Web Design. Our clients don’t have to go searching for 5 different businesses to get the job done! My goal was to make everything as streamlined as possible for our clients so their projects or events can be stress-free.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as having the freedom to do what you love without anyone or anything holding you back. It’s not about the money. Having a high-salary position at a company can be great, but being stuck there for 10+ hours a day with a boss you hate isn’t worth it. Success is being able to create a business and offer the services you enjoy working on and being happy and fulfilled at the end of the day.
