Daily Inspiration: Meet Bottara Angele

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bottara Angele.

Hi Bottara, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was first discovered on Instagram by a Canadian rapper named RUSSELL! for my unique style of burlesque dancing. He put me in his music video, “Money Don’t Make Me”, which showcased my dancing and it branched into more opportunities. Since the music video’s release, I have been in two other music videos for RUSSELL!, danced in a music video for Tay Money and Saweetie, and was in a G-Eazy music video. At the same time of these videos, I began taking more focused acting classes. The skills I acquired from being on set and learning from professionals helped me get even more roles. I booked a commercial for all the community colleges of Los Angeles. Then I was nominated for an Irene Ryan award for my performance in the play Noises Off. Soon after, I got a small speaking role in Paul Thomas Anderson’s new film called Soggy Bottom. Currently, I am working more towards my acting career and I’m optimistic for what lies ahead!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t always been easy. It honestly took me a while to embrace my goals. I kept pushing away the idea of me being an actor for years as I tried to make myself pursue more “traditional” occupations that my father approved of. For so long, I wanted to have a career that had a clear path. Since I have had to provide a lot for myself from a young age, I have always had to juggle work, school, and efforts towards my dreams.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an actor, dancer, and model. I am a trained Meisner method actor, which has helped me be able to play a large spectrum of roles. From this, I have a wide range of emotions and can more easily connect to a character. Dance is what started my career and has always been a part of my life. I am definitely known for my unique style of burlesque dancing from the “Money Don’t Make Me” music video. I am also known for other dance styles such as hip hop, salsa, and jazz-funk. In regards to modeling, people always tend to recognize me from my Instagram (@bottara.angele). I think what sets me apart from others is my tenacity, resilience, and focus. When I have a goal, I will do everything I can to accomplish it. Besides this, I believe I am very energetic, personable, and charismatic. Also, I think I have a unique look that people tend to remember.

What matters most to you? Why?
Sincerity is the most important thing to me. I always want to be myself freely in everything I do and create. I want to find a little bit of myself in every role I play, every dance I choreograph or take part in, and every photo I am pictured modeling in. If I am able to do that, the people that enjoy my work will enjoy me for who I truly am. This is also the most important thing to me in all my relationships.
