Daily Inspiration: Meet Bartek Frak

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bartek Frak.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My wife and I were both Plant-Based, loved juicing and curious about all of the benefits of Juicing & the plant-based lifestyle. So with that curiosity, we decided to put a menu together and open a Juice bar/Plant-Based Market & Restaurant.  The company  was established in 2015, and in early June of 2016, we opened our doors in the heart of Echo Park. Last year, we brought on two of our friends as partners, Brianna and Josue. Both have been an integral part of our profound growth and evolution of Glowing this year. Together as a team, we plan on expanding our collective concept across Los Angeles.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
This was our first business venture, so yes there were definitely struggles along the way. I facilitated the build-out of the store, but our budget was small so he had to be creative. We also couldn’t afford to hire a giant staff at the beginning. So the both of us were running on little sleep–while wearing multiple hats, improvising, guessing and hoping this was not going to tank.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
The four of us are entrepreneurs but have come from various backgrounds. Brianna’s expertise is in bookkeeping and accounting, but her main focus here is front-of-house managing. Both her and I handle general operations and employees. I was a mechanic in his previous life, and also am a handyman. Not only do I manage the front of the house, but I also fix all of the things that break. Josue is a wizard at spreadsheets and numbers, and here at glowing he is the head of HR and does the back-of-house management. Lastly, Claudia is now the marketing and social media manager. She also continues to curate the menu and is also one of our front-of-house employees.
