Today we’d like to introduce you to Austin Reed.
Hi Austin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I first got into music in high school around the age of 15, starting out by making beats. Over time, that passion evolved—I began writing, rapping, and singing as well. In 2015, when my wife and I found out we were expecting our first son, I felt the need to provide more stability for my growing family. That led me to step away from music and take a corporate job.
A couple of years later, in 2017, a childhood friend of mine started gaining serious traction as a rapper on the Los Angeles scene. He asked me to manage him. I had no experience in management at the time, but his drive and persistence convinced me to jump in and help however I could. That moment marked the beginning of my artist management journey.
Since then, I’ve been steadily growing my network and building strong business relationships within the music industry. What started as a favor turned into a full-blown career, and I haven’t looked back since.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In the beginning, everything felt like a challenge. While I had a background in making music, I lacked both industry experience and a strong network. I would reach out to people on behalf of the artist I was managing, but more often than not, I wouldn’t get a response. That experience quickly taught me just how valuable relationships are in this business. From that point on, I made building genuine connections my top priority.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
What sets me apart is my ability to build and lead cohesive teams that can operate both collaboratively and independently. I have a strong instinct for bringing the right people together to execute creative projects from start to finish. My business partner, Danny Shabti, brings a sharp entrepreneurial mindset and a talent for identifying and capitalizing on business opportunities. Together, we guide our artists and producers in developing their skills and reaching their personal and professional goals.
Currently, we manage two primary artists: Retro E, a rapper, and Majur DeVeaux, a singer-songwriter. We recently released a single and music video for Retro E titled “Watch Out”, which is now available on all major streaming platforms, with the video live on YouTube. We’re also in the studio working on Majur’s upcoming EP, while simultaneously preparing her for the Miss Caribbean LA pageant, scheduled for late May.
In addition to individual artists, we manage a collective under our brand, SVNTH House Music Group, which includes a dynamic team of artists, producers, and songwriters: Kash Young (rapper/songwriter), Jamarius Leaks (singer/songwriter), Sean Bruce (rapper), Z (producer), and PREGAME (songwriter/producer). We’re proud to share that Z recently landed a placement on an upcoming project from Hit-Boy.
We’re also collaborating with HITMKR—a company focused on helping independent artists monetize their music and build authentic fan communities. This partnership aligns perfectly with our mission to empower creatives while creating sustainable careers in music.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
The most valuable thing you can do is build genuine relationships. Get out there—go to events, connect with people, support artists, and show them that you’re in it to add real value, not just collect a check. People can quickly tell when your intentions aren’t aligned or when your actions don’t match your words. Integrity goes a long way in this business. When you lead with authenticity and consistency, the right people will naturally gravitate toward you.
