Daily Inspiration: Meet Arieh Berl

Today we’d like to introduce you to Arieh Berl.

Arieh Berl

Arieh, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Arieh Berl, I’m an artist and producer from Oakland, CA currently based in LA. I started out playing in bands growing up in the Bay Area and making music with my friends. That turned into me producing my own records for my artist project called Pink Skies.

Today we’re touring quite a bit. The last year we’ve been on the road with Magic City Hippies, Tim Atlas, The Undercover Dreamlovers and Kainalu.

Through making my own music, I’ve also started producing other artists as well. It’s been really organic with everything. I just keep on trying to do my thing. Every time I don’t pay attention to what other people are doing, it seems to resonate.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being an independent artist is definitely a struggle, not going to lie. There’s inherent comparison with others especially living in LA with the best producers of all time, and there are an infinite amount of great artists.

I think it’s really weird to put your music out into the world. A lot of my stuff never comes out, but it’s a weird moment of excitement, nerves, judgement, all of the emotions.

It’s also a challenge to get the music heard. I don’t really like promoting myself, it feels weird. But it’s definitely part of the experience of being an artist. So yeah, definitely a lot of weird, uneasy feeling to move through. But at the end of the day, I just like making music even if it’s me in the garage banging on the drums. It’s just fun and feels good.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a music producer and artist. I release my music under the name Pink Skies. We’ve released 4 albums, one of which just came out on March 1st. We’ve toured with groups like Magic City Hippies, Cannons, NEIL FRANCES, Goth Babe, Tim Atlas, & TV Girl.

I also produced music with 6LACK, Saint JHN, and Khalid, which was a highlight. But the biggest highlight is just getting to make meaningful music with people I like. It’s the journey through the sonic space.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
In music/entertainment the industry is going to be moving like crazy. I think we’re seeing shifts in streaming services and how they work. Artists and how they make revenue and tour. I think AI is going to be a big deal as well.
