Today we’d like to introduce you to Antonio Gf
Hi Antonio GF, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m Antonio GF (Antonio Guerrero), a singer, music producer, multi-instrumentalist, and composer. Music has shaped my life from a very young age. I was born in Loja, Ecuador, on January 11, 1998. At the age of 6, I had my first introduction to music by enrolling in a piano academy called Santa Cecilia in Loja, Ecuador. After one year, at the age of 7, I transferred to the Conservatorio Superior “Salvador Bustamante Celi” in Loja, where I graduated as a music technician with a focus on piano at the age of 16.
In August 2016, at 18, I won the second season of “La Voz Ecuador,” becoming one of the youngest artists to win the reality show. In 2018, I released my debut single with Universal Music, titled “Con los Ojos Cerrados,” which earned me a nomination for Best Ballad Song at the 2019 “Premios Disco Rojo.”
In 2022, I moved to Los Angeles, California, to pursue my dreams and continue my musical education. That same year, I started studying at the Musicians Institute College of Contemporary Music, where I completed my certification in Electronic Music Production (EMP) in October 2023. Currently, I work at the Musicians Institute in the piano and voice departments.
I’ve had the privilege of performing at major festivals, including the “Concierto Exa” (2018) and “Be You Fest” (2019), both held at the Coliseo Rumiñahui in Quito, Ecuador. During these events, I shared the stage with prominent latin artists like Rio Roma, Cali y El Dandee, and Aitana.
Throughout my career, I’ve collaborated with amazing Latin music artists such as Alex Ubago, Paty Cantú, and Equilivre. These days, I’m working on new, modern productions that blend genres like electro-pop, R&B, rock, and Latin pop. Some of my most recent songs include “Our Night,” “Te Digo Adiós,” and “Xq no me sueltas.”
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Migrating to the United States has been a challenge for me. Starting from scratch to achieve my goals and living alone in a country where a different language is spoken has been tough. Another challenge has been adapting to the new musical trends in both Spanish and English music, as well as embracing social media as a platform for artists. Creating more content, something I wasn’t very familiar with, has been an adjustment.
Additionally, moving to Los Angeles to study piano and injuring my arms after four months due to overexertion was one of the most difficult moments in my life. It led me to change my major to Electronic Music Production and to accept that recovering from a chronic injury takes time. I’m still recovering, but this experience has helped me discover other musical skills, like producing and arranging, by learning to use different music software. Technology wasn’t my strong suit before, but now I feel much more confident in handling it.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a singer, songwriter, producer, and pianist with expertise in writing, arranging, and producing songs. I’m also a professional performer. What sets me apart is my vocal ability — I have a wide range and a versatile voice capable of interpreting various genres, from classic rock to tropical Latin styles like salsa and cumbia.
I’m proud to have been the winner of La Voz Ecuador and to have collaborated with international Latin artists such as Paty Cantú and Alex Ubago. Additionally, I’ve performed at major international festivals like Concierto Exa and Be You Fest at the Coliseo Rumiñahui in Quito, Ecuador, in front of an audience of over 8,000 people.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
To be patient and seize the opportunities that life presents is essential. It’s important to focus on all aspects of life, not just work, but also on self-wellness. Always maintain a positive outlook, knowing that tough times won’t last forever and that good times are on the horizon. Remember, hard work ultimately leads to great rewards.
