Daily Inspiration: Meet Angel Lozano

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angel Lozano.

Hi Angel, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?

Well, I’ve always had a sorta interest in the entertainment industry. For starters, I grew up with watching teen tv TV show like Smallville, The O.C.,  Heroes, or Pretty Little Liars.
Then a couple of year later that I would then do a private arts school (for two years) called Creative Planet School Of the Arts, or CPSOA, in which I had done some plays here and there, but it was mainly background.
And sometime much later in my life, which was somewhere around when I was 19, or 20 that I started writing just for fun, but then I had met two incredible people who helped me make a reel, and would form a friendship with the two, as well as do background for one of them from time to time.
This lead to a flurry of interesting things such as doing background, or small speaking roles. An example of this would be that I would do background for The White Man Can’t Jump Reboot.
Eventually, a couple of years late that I would started doing screenwriting more, which lead to me creating my first ever feature script with a close friend/mentor (Who is named to Grant Gelvin) that’s called One Hell Of A Night.
And that lead to making a proof of concept as an co-director, with one of the people who helped made my reel. (His name is Chris Vinan). This then lead to me producing for the first time as well for the 48 Hour contest.
 Honestly though I could not have done all of it without the friendships I have made which were somewhat created during the strike or during the pandemic.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?

It has not been the most easiest because honestly, I have to take the bus over for me, which is due to the fact that I don’t know how to drive. I’m not the type to go out or even then is it’s just a struggle just trying to form friendships but then it’s just like trying to apply for jobs in this industry given that it’s all based on your availability.

And that’s on top of going to and from school, which makes my availability a little bit more difficult for acting jobs.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

I am an actor, and a screenwriter. But as of more recently that I’m also a producer, but also hoping to become a director in the future. 

I would say that I am very known for my acting and writing. Theirs is more of a focused on the writing front, more specifically that I’ve written in the horror genre

I would say that thing I am most proud of is co-writing One Hell Of A Night. Honestly, it’s just one of the most funniest and fun scripts that I could have done without my writing partner, Grant.

I think there is nothing that sets me apart from everyone because I just try to come in and not try to treat every new person that I meet only as a collaborator, but more as a friend.

I think for me is that trying to set yourself apart from everyone will only make you just be much more competitive of people, and I’m not here for competition, but instead I’m here for cheering everyone in this industry.  Plus I’m here to work and create things with friends. Regardless, if they’re old or new friends.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?

I think the one quality, or characteristic that I feel that’s important to my success is to be honest, and kind because as long as you’re honest and kind that you’re kind of showing a certain type of vulnerability, and trust into people versus just being like “Oh no, we’re just here to work, and that all it is”. That is fine for some people.
But for me feel like it won’t bring out the most authenticity in my own work, but that’s just my own opinion.
