Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Linder.
Hi Amber, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m so grateful for this extraordinary journey. It’s been a whirlwind of exquisitely crafted chaos infused with the magic of alchemy and sound.
It all began with a one-way ticket on the Greyhound bus from Bakersfield to Hollywood. At the time, I was a precocious 17-year-old, brimming with dreams and carrying just a few belongings in a Glad garbage bag. I desired to be a part of the creative tapestry in a big city outside my small-town mentality upbringing.
It wasn’t long before I talked my way into a production company producing commercials and music videos- I was thrilled. Despite the exhilaration the industry lifestyle offered, it also proved to be relentlessly taxing. I transitioned into becoming a personal assistant and estate manager for a recently retired business magnate, whose eccentricities were unapparelled. With him, I embarked on extraordinary adventures that etched some of life’s most cherished memories. Some experiences were, quite frankly, perilously close to heart-stopping action, such as the time we narrowly averted a jet hijacking in the course of our African travels.
I found myself concealed in the cargo hold beneath his assortment of designer luggage!
Throughout the years of escapades, there was one aspect that perpetually captivated me- the food! Our doors revolved with a parade of gifted chefs. Not everyone is willing to embark on an off-grid island adventure at a moment’s notice for an undisclosed amount of time. It wasn’t for everyone. I got on great with these culinary artists, and every spare moment found me in the kitchen, eagerly inquiring, lending a helping hand, and tasting everything. The world of flavors that unfolded before me was like a treasure chest awaiting exploration. My enchantment with food grew so profound that, true to my passion-driven spirit, I eventually attended culinary school.
A love affair with gardening ensued, intertwining me with the plant realm. It was as though the plants themselves whispered their needs, guiding me in their care and preparations. This communication blossomed, influencing not only my approach to cooking but to life itself. A deeper understanding of interconnectedness emerged- the mineral world intertwining with the plant kingdom, acting as a bridge to the animal & human spheres. Infusing my culinary creations with crystals and incorporating the harvest of my own gardens elevated each dish into a magical, full-circle experience. From sowing the seeds to savoring the final meal, each culinary journey was accompanied by captivating stories, and the food transcended mere nourishment, becoming a soul-soothing experience that drew people together. It felt like an authentic calling- spreading joy through my culinary offerings and being of service to others.
This encounter with nature spurred a spiritual quest within me. The natural world was undoubtedly transcendent, but this inner calling urged me to expand my horizons. I heeded the call and journeyed to Bali, immersing myself in the study of energy healing under the tutelage of a master healer. There, I embraced the notion of holistic healing- mending mind, body, and spirit. I collected invaluable skills and techniques that not only transformed my life but also allowed me to extend aid to others in their journey as well. My connection with energy, frequency, and vibration deepened, and I developed an unwavering fascination with sound- not merely as music but as a potent force that could sway emotions moods and even affect physical change.
I met Alan Tower, an individual whose profound insights helped transform my perception of sound. Alan introduced me to the singing stone. I think of it as a geological marvel that serves as a mystical conduit to heightened awareness. As it’s caressed with wet hands, it induces rare and penetrating frequencies. The stone left me with an undeniable compulsion to want to incorporate it into every fabric of my life. At that time, Alan was among one of the very few guardians of these mystical stones in North America, the rarity making them truly exceptional treasures. With his gracious assistance, I embarked on a venture to procure one of these special instruments from India. Nearly two years after the seed was planted, the stone arrived, and I built an entire immersive sound experience around the singing stone. The stone now resides in my sound sanctuary I call the Zen Den. A sacred space thoughtfully curated to connect to your senses and expand your mind. On a bespoke table made by artisan craftsmen that lights up with sacred geometry, your whole body is vibrated by the bones of the Earth, the singing stone. The most analogue and visceral sound experience was birthed.
And that brings us to Now.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This is truly a great question because it urges you to consider the essence of perspective. Life’s full of bumpy terrain and struggles. These days, I fondly look at all the challenges as opportunities for tremendous personal growth. It’s undeniable that during the throes of our own struggles when life seems to deviate from our plans or hopeful aspirations, focus and determination can waiver. A poignant moment in my life was on 9/11/2019. At the height of my thriving catering business, I was in a harrowing accident on the 101FWY. My leg became pinned under the weight of a truck’s tire. Even still, the memory remains surreal. The recollection is vivid with the sensation of my body pressed against the warm asphalt and a cacophony of speeding cars whizzing by as I watched them from under the trucks chassis. Miraculously, I suffered no fractures, however I did have severe nerve damage that left me bedridden. This was a surprising opportunity to do a full audit of my life in every aspect. Once I was able to stand and walk again, I dove head first back into my chef work, and within a month, we were in full pandemic lockdown. Once more, life presented me with an invitation to embrace the journey of my life. Obstacles are gifts for expansion. If we aren’t winning, we are learning.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am graced with the privilege of embodying the spirit of creativity while being of service to others as a career. I wish this for everyone. I get to use all my passions in a rhizomatic outreach to my community, not limited to any one idea or skill set. People come to me for all sorts of experiences and services. My goal is to allow you to see your own love light and amplify it. I help you remember who you are.
I am passionate about creating immersive sound experiences vibrating individuals or couples on my table with the stone. This is a great experience for couples, whether it be lovers, colleagues working on a project together that want to inspire their collective creativity, or parents and their children. The goal here is to facilitate a vibrational coupling, syncing the participants with an exceptional sound experience. Additionally, I orchestrate sound odysseys, thoughtfully intertwined with plant medicines, guiding seekers on transformative voyages of the soul.
The power of sound, vibration, and plant medicine is unparalleled, and I get to be a conduit of that synergetic magic.
With the unique soundscapes, I am able to weave, I play with other musicians, creating one-of-a-kind sonic expressions that we perform in my enchanting garden. I lend the stone’s polyrhythmic pulsations to other artist’s projects and do studio recordings as well.
I enjoy collaborations and seeing what synergies unfold; The music always organic and never replicated.
I curate custom all-natural offerings from tinctures to salves and handcrafted soaps. In each creation, nature’s finest treasures take center stage with the addition of crystal essence, the transformative magic of adaptogens, and mind-enhancing properties of nootropics. The gifts of Earth and the wisdom of nature united. All these offerings are also activated on the sound table, continuing the vibrational infusions.
In the most recent chapter of my journey, I have embraced the call of death doula. Weaving sound healing into one last sacred moment, holding a peace-filled space for them and their families.
Amidst the expansion of my sound work pursuits, there is still a tenderness for the art of catering special events that deeply resonates with my ethos.
My work is very personal to each individual and have always only worked with people via word of mouth, but a great way to get a feel for who I am and the experience I provide; you can join me every new moon for a group sound bath. I hold a monthly new moon event of intention aligning and sound activation for groups and is open to everyone.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Absolutely! I don’t know if my sound practice would have been birthed so rapidly without Covid-19. Once the world shut down, the singing stone arrived in the most auspicious timing. My partner asked, “What are you going to do with this giant rock?!” To be honest, I had no idea! I just knew I needed it in my life. The luxurious amount of time I had to be with myself, I could hear the inner messages much more clearly. When we slow down long enough to listen, your life can change.
I stepped full-heartedly into ideas that were always in my atmosphere but never embraced. Most notably, taking my kitchen alchemy and applying it to other conditions in my life, such as my spiritual practice and healing my past traumas. The greatest amount of transformation at a rapid pace happened when I was forced to slow down.
Of course, crisis can be incredibly difficult and challenging, but they are also opportunities for great learning and growth. If we can learn from the lessons crisis offers us, we can emerge from them stronger, more resilient, and more grateful for the good we have in our lives.
