Daily Inspiration: Meet Allyssa Malony

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allyssa Malony.

Hi Allyssa, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my business at 22 years old, during the pandemic, and while finishing my degree. Growing up and being asked, “What do you want to be or do when you get older” my answer was always, “Be a boss!” Very vague and had no actual idea what I would do I just knew I wanted to work for myself and be in control of my life. I played softball since I was four years old and was grateful enough to play D1 for two years. As I did not finish that out, I have to thank it a lot for putting me where I am today. Because starting a business during a pandemic, there were only challenges and predicted failure. But that is softball – the game of failure. That pushed me to embrace all the unknown and not give up! I always said “Every no is closer to a yes” and that kept me positive and pushing!

I have always loved social media, taking photos, etc. But what I love the most is helping people. So I combined the two and started Assylla Media LLC a social media management and marketing for sm(all) businesses. Working with all types of people and businesses, I’ve been able to showcase my abilities and do something I love every single day (and yes, every single day) because I think of my business as my baby and it doesn’t matter if its the weekend, holiday, birthday, etc. I have showed up for my business every day for the last two years! I never thought I would be here two years later, living in LA and expanding in hopes of a full-functioning agency. I am proud to say my business has fully supported itself and my lifestyle for two years.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think the biggest struggles or bumps in the road have been learning as I go. I knew I just had to start even if I didn’t have it all figured out. That came with tons of personal and business development. I love learning and have no shame asking for help, no one ever has it all figured out, and I knew as much as I love being Ms. Independent, I had to put my pride aside and do what was right for my business. I think being authentic and honest has gotten me through a lot over the last two years and gained respect, especially being a young woman… which is another struggle. I have seen firsthand how women in the workplace get treated, and it’s not easy; it’s hard to trust people. I learned to trust myself and that I am in control. I can be selective in who I work with, have a voice, and don’t have to prove myself because I am confident in myself and my work! Mental health has also been a struggle. The uncertainty can be super scary and having everything on your own shoulders can grow heavy. But what I learned and hope to inspire others is that you must always take care of yourself; you can’t pour from an empty cup. Know when to rest, find balance and you and your business will flourish!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I bridge the gap between vision and execution!

I am passionate about creating better brand aesthetics and building beautiful, refreshed social channels that build businesses in this digital age. Whether they are starting from the ground up or want to re-brand their company, I am confident I can make their vision come to life.

I have worked with a wide variety of business verticals including hospitality, apparel brands, apps, etc. Specializing in content creation and design but also love taking on the management role, including postings and answering DMS or marketing roles like Facebook ads and influencer partnerships. I am one-stop shop, and every day I look forward to putting my creative talents toward building strong digital content and marketing strategies to help achieve a business’s goals. I am proud Assylla Media has worked on almost over 100 short and long-term projects, clients that have been with me for the two years, an influencer database of over 300, and have fully executed 50 influencer events! What sets Assylla Media apart is working with me is hands-on. I am always a text or call away and REALLY care about the quality of work. It’s the best of both worlds – they get the responsiveness of an in-house Social Media Agency without the associated costs.
