Today we’d like to introduce you to Ally Benton .
Hi Ally, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started out doing makeup as a teenager and practicing on my friends… In college, I realized that my true passion was makeup and I needed to be in cosmetology school. Once I graduated school, I started getting into lash extensions. There weren’t a lot of places offering lashes when I started. Now the industry has changed and there are so many amazing artists. I moved to Los Angeles six years ago from Houston, Texas to pursue my dream. I’ve been lucky enough to work with some great artists and have taken many classes to keep developing my skill set. I opened my own lash studio almost two years ago called Blue Glam. There are times where I still can’t believe I did it! It has been such a blessing to have so many beautiful clients supporting me through my journey.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
There’s been some challenges and a lot of determination. I have worked many jobs simultaneously to save up money and get to Los Angeles. Having a passion for something has really helped me get through the hard times. When I create my art and my clients are happy then it was all worth it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a makeup artist and lash artist. I specialize in natural-looking lash extensions and love making lashes look like they are your own lashes but better. I’m proud that I have been able to live in Los Angeles this long and make a living doing what I love. Sometimes we forget how resilient we can be. What sets me apart is that I have a strong work ethic. I know I probably work too much but it doesn’t feel like work when you love what you do.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Going to New York with my mom for the first time. As a child being in a city like New York was magical.
