Daily Inspiration: Meet Allison Martin Holt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allison Martin Holt.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I got started with my love and passion for all things food, cooking, baking, photography, and connecting with nature in my early years, where it has become an enormous part of my life to this day. I got to the place that I am currently at, and still strive daily for, through passion, love, hard work, and not giving up.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it has not been a smooth road. Some roads have been easier than others, but for the most part, my journey has taken a lot of dedication and persistence on my part.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
In my previous career, I was a litigation paralegal for several years where I then became a stay-at-home Mom to raise my two amazing sons, while going to earn a Masters degree. During this time, I never let go of my love for all things food, cooking, and garden.

Today, I am a private chef and artist based in Los Angeles who is passionate about supporting farmers and farmers markets and crafting dishes which celebrate our region’s foods. I specialize in elevated multi-course farm-to-table dinners which highlight the flavors of the season and drawing inspiration from my herb garden. I am also the food photographer and food/prop stylist behind my brand Rustic by Allison.

The old cheese shop Say Cheese torch has been handed over to me and I am taking over ownership with exciting things to come as I build on its legacy.

I think what sets me apart is me being me and trying my best to stay true to that.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
My advice is to find your audience and community, network, and try to nurture those relationships.
