Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandra Hill.
Hi Alexandra, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve been cooking since I was 12 and originally wanted to go to culinary school outside of high school but my mom and I agreed to finish a four year, Hampton University is where I went, and if I thought about culinary school after then, we would consider it.
I went on to cook all through college and even after graduating when I started working in my field of PR & Marketing. I always loved bringing people together through food and still had the culinary bug but couldn’t afford it since I was in so much student loan debt!
I ultimately decided to start a food blog in 2017 as a passion project for myself beyond my 9-5. There were tons of starts and stops but it wasn’t until the stay-at-home order for the pandemic where everything took off for me and the rest is kinda history! I quit my full-time job in marketing in 2021 and have been a full-time recipe developer & content creator since then!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
There’s been a ton of starts & stops because of imposter syndrome, overthinking and all the in-between so it def has not been smooth but I think that’s the beauty in the journey is just trying to enjoy it. Just ride the wave of the journey and enjoying the highs but also embracing the lows and maneuvering through it all.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a recipe developer, cooking instructor & content creator. My whole mission with what I do is to encourage others to get in the kitchen and cook. I truly believe that when you are putting your time, energy and money into making someone feel good through food is truly love. I strive to create easy, flavorful recipes that feel good & taste good!
I’m most proud of taking the leap of faith and quitting my full-time marketing job and going into this food world!
I think people relate most to my personality when it comes to food & cooking because I always try and make it fun, relatable and that everyone can cook!
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Making my mom proud. She poured into so much when I was younger when it came to me and cooking and I don’t think she even realized it at the time so making her proud when it comes to my career in cooking is what matters most to me.
