Daily Inspiration: Meet Alex Henry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Henry.

Alex Henry

Hi Alex, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started acting at the age of eight, I grew up in Europe, and I was raised in Belgrade, Serbia. Ever since I was a child, I loved performing, and I wanted to be in the entertainment industry. My family quickly enrolled me in a performing arts school, where I began to star in local commercials and television. In high school, I was heavily influenced by Hollywood culture and dreamed of one day moving to Los Angeles to pursue acting and filmmaking. When I finally graduated, I gathered up the courage to move across the world to Hollywood and began pursuing a career in entertainment. Arriving in Los Angeles, I was scouted by a manager at the beach where I was surfing with my friends.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
LOL. To be honest, I thought the red carpet would be laid out for me as soon as I arrived JK. But I was quickly humbled and began learning all the ins and outs of the industry. I took as many extra and production assistant jobs as I could to learn about the industry. I soon started my studies formally at New York Film Academy majoring in film and media productions. I fell in love with the process of filmmaking and storytelling, but my true passion was still acting. After graduating, I began my acting studies at UCLA. One of the biggest struggles was being an international student, where English wasn’t my first language. I had to adapt to the changes, but quickly was welcomed by a community of artists also chasing their dreams.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am known for starting my production company and directing and starring in my own films. Our production company focuses on projects that bring light to social justice topics and help spark positive change in the world. I also write my own screenplays, and I love creating young adult comedy, thrillers, and dystopian fantasy films. I am proud of just how far I’ve come, but I know there’s still a long way ahead If I want to achieve greatness. I am proud of all my projects so far. I believe every project is a new experience and a learning opportunity. I hope to utilize my platform to do good and inspire others to follow their passions.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is spending quality time with my friends and family. I am a big fan of going to the cinema, so growing up I would always go with my friends to see our favorite Hollywood films. I also enjoyed playing video games and collecting Yu-gi-oh! Cards and practicing martial arts with my friends.
