Daily Inspiration: Meet Alex Feggi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Feggi.

Hi Alex, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m an Italian photographer based in the City of Angels. I was born in a small town in Northern Italy, where I grew up and spent my very first (and best) twenty years of my life. Growing up there was fun, I was lucky enough to dedicate most of my time to hobbies like music and art, which both lead me an immense desire to discover the world in my following (and still best) years. I played music all around Europe with a British band, I documented life through my camera in some of the most unique countries that the continent has to offer, and it was fun. At some point in my life, I felt the need to settle, and Milan was the place I felt right to do so. But as I was packing, and after getting hired by an agency in the world of fashion, everything turned upside down: I didn’t know my journey was about to begin. In my hometown, two weeks before making the move to the big city I met a girl that changed my life forever. She is the reason I never moved to Milan, she is the reason I decided to leave everything and move to the other side of the world. I ended up in California, where she comes from, and I brought with me all my hobbies, which one of them became my actual profession. Click!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been a challenge since day 01. I left Italy the very same day of the first big outbreak of Covid-19. And everything started shutting down, including the Italian company I was working for at the time. The past few years were intense for sure, luckily I was able (we were) to get out of this wild times pretty well. But at the same time, this whole pandemic thing turned out to be the best thing ever happened to me. One year ago I got to marry that girl that I met in my hometown a few years before, and I’m the happiest man on planet Earth 🙂

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I love people’s faces and expressions, that’s my main interest as a photographer, I love how unique every single one of us is, and the story that every face is capable of telling. I guess I’m still discovering myself as an artist, as well as the city where I’m living right now. I’m exploring different types of photography, and different ways of photography. At the moment I’m spacing between commercial and portrait photography, they both bring me joy for different reasons. I still haven’t gotten an idea if I like or not this city but for the time I spent here I was lucky enough to be on huge sets and with some of my favorite artists, and that’s what I like about this place, you never know what will happen, but surely something will! Last October I was on set for a video for FKA Twigs with The Weeknd, and recently I was part of a team shooting Olivia Rodrigo for Time Magazine. It’s crazy that I got to be part of these things after been here in LA for less than one year, I’m so excited on what the future might bring my way!

What matters most to you?
Respect is what matters the most. I think that respecting yourself and other people-living being-things can only lead to good stuff and good energy. It sounds cheesy I know, but I struggle with it and I feel everyone else does a little bit.
