Today we’d like to introduce you to Alejandro Belmonte.
Hi Alejandro, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started this acting journey in Mexico City at the Method Actors Workshop, where I studied for two years and later began my acting career at Argos Casazul, which is one of the most prestigious acting schools in my country when I was in school I started working in theater and making short films. After graduating came the movie “How Am I not going to love you” which premiered in Mexico and the United States and where I got my first leading role since then I have not stopped working. But since I was a child I know that I was born an actor and I feel very happy that I dedicate myself to doing what I like. This love for my profession is what has brought me to this point in my life and has more than 60 credits on IMDb.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, my career is like a roller coaster, with its ups and downs. I think the most difficult thing about this career is that we are always freelance. You finish a project and you always ask yourself, what’s next? You also have to continue preparing and studying, whenever you can, I take a workshop or study an acting program, like now that I just finished my postgrad in Acting for Film and TV program at the Vancouver Film School.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I dedicate myself to playing and I’m an ACTOR with capital letters because I dedicate myself to doing what I love most in this life. And many characters have come that have filled my career, the most representative is the series “El Señor De Los Cielos” (The Lord Of The Sky) where I played José Ángel Lamarca in seasons 3 and 4, the movie “Cuatro Lunas” (Four Moons) that toured the world and won many awards. Of the latest projects we can mention the series “Malverde” and the movie “Love Without Fear” where we play Leo, one of the leading characters.
I feel very proud to continue on this journey, it is not an easy path, beyond fame and money, the real challenge is to stay, I feel very happy to be an actor who is in force, who never stops working, and who is dedicated to doing what he loves, there is no better gift than this.
And that is exactly what differentiates me from the rest, I feel very happy and grateful to the universe for allowing me to do what I want, allowing me to represent other lives, and for having fulfilled my greatest dream (already several times) of being on the big screen and making movies, my greatest passion. The biggest orgasms of my life are when I’m on a set filming a movie and whenever a new project comes into my hands I just have to be thankful for it.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Of course, firstly my parents Olivia and Luis who taught me to fight for my dreams and never stop, my parents have always been in my life as my greatest support and I cannot feel more grateful for that, my sister Gabriela who helped me moving to Mexico City to start my studies in acting and he has always believed in me. Claudia Ríos and Jorge Ávalos, my teachers who taught me to be a professional, to work hard, and that everything comes from love, especially acting. Nancy Sivak, Charles Douglas, Bill Marchant, Bart Anderson, Kurt Evans, Frank Cassini, and Andrés Soto, my teachers at VFS taught me that this is a party to which I am invited, where all I have to do is have fun. Thank you for teaching me that no one can do things better than me because no one else is me. We are unique and unrepeatable.
Felipe Nájera, my older actor brother always supported me in my acting career. Carla Hool who gave me the opportunity in my first projects, Alejandro Reza, Becker Casting, Rosy Argüelles, Javier Esponda, Thalia Escobar, Karla Zuqui, Ana Vega, Tania Lozano, Liliana Muñiz, Argos, Sergio Tovar Velarde, Edgar Barrón, Isaac Basulto, Edgar Estrada, Rolando Martínez, Juan Fraustro, Victor Avelar and all the people who have trusted me to play a character and who in one way or another have helped me to be where I am now. There are so many people that I would not finish naming them.
And of course, my friends who are the family that I have chosen and are always supporting me, Rosa Frausto, Diana Torres, Diana Salgado, Ari Gallegos, Javier Noriega, José Luis Ferrer, Bruna Gazolla, Diego Scherenberg, Elias Mordo, Janessa Bowers and many more of my mates who accompany me on this trip. I love you all.
