Daily Inspiration: Meet Agne Balciene

Today we’d like to introduce you to Agne Balciene.

Agne Balciene

Hi Agne, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started taking photographs when I became a mother. I wanted to preserve as many memories as possible, but I never shared them. After moving to California, I began sharing my family moments with relatives and friends. Eventually, people started asking if I was a professional photographer. I thought, why not study photography and turn my hobby into a job? Gradually, as I studied, I started photographing portraits, families, and events. In the last few years, I focused on newborn photography studies and intend to continue and improve in this field. I want to capture as many newborns as possible so that these memories last forever.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Okay, it was and is not easy. It requires a lot of knowledge, significant investment, patience, and attention to detail. But seeing the smiles of families when they receive the photos makes it all worthwhile.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As I mentioned, I’ve dedicated the past year to perfecting newborn photography. What sets me apart from most is that I travel to clients’ homes with my equipment. I create portraits where families feel most comfortable: in their own homes. My style is minimalist, focused on small details. I strive not to miss even the tiniest elements. Another thing that sets me apart is that I only schedule one newborn per day; I prioritize quality over quantity.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Of course, we all take risks every day when making decisions. Starting a family, beginning a business, changing our place of residence—truth be told, my family’s life has seen many such changes; we love to travel, so we often move. I enjoy challenging myself in new areas; perhaps because of this inclination, I wasn’t afraid to start a photography business.
