Today we’d like to introduce you to Adriane Leigh.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I discovered and fell in love with art and creativity at a young age. I started making my own ‘weird’ clothes and jewelry in middle school, was awarded the art award in high school, painted all the school murals, and at 15 got my first job teaching art and crafts at a children’s center. Unbeknownst to me, in the distant future of my life, one of my career paths would be becoming a therapeutic arts teacher. Creativity has always been where my soul feels at home and is a foundation of my existence. For years I pondered whether I could bring all my creative passions under one brand in a way that would be cohesive and meaningful. Through contemplation, I realized the answer was a resounding yes, and thus, Taru was born.
Taru translates to “tree” in Sanskrit. Throughout my life, I have held a deep affection for trees – the lungs of our planet. Taru is a special place where art, design, meditation and mindfulness peacefully collaborate.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like many of us, my life has consisted of overcoming challenges which often required evolving into a different version of myself. This introspective array of lessons and mistakes all beautifully ended up teaching me about myself, about life and providing me the wisdom and knowing that only comes from lived experience. My heartfelt intention is to be a safe space and resource to assist others in navigating challenges by utilizing the lessons I have learned from my own life journey.
Taru is inspired by the intertwined roots of the ancient Redwood trees. They stand tall and strong by relying on the support of their neighboring trees. My goal for humanity is to follow this example…interconnect and elevate together.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an artist, designer, creative coach, and therapeutic and healing arts facilitator that specializes in gracefully infusing peace into productivity. Whether it’s painting on a canvas, leading wellness workshops and retreats or creating brand identities for clients, it’s all done from the heart with the intention to be a multi-sensory awakening experience.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Authenticity is the quality I stand on firmly. Paired with guiding people toward embodying a creative, well-lived and mindful life.
