We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
So I have been working in this industry for nearly eight years now. Like everyone else, I also had my ups and downs. Being an outsider and also an international, I faced a lot of difficulties in reaching where I am today. I would not say it was just my effort in reaching my goal. It was the hard work of my parents from which I got a chance to be here in the first place in Los Angeles all the way from India, then it was their confidence and believing in me. I met a lot of people who helped me grow and supported me in my hard times and my good times. So looking back I’ll just say that I believe in the process and do not try to jump instead take one step at a time even if it feels like it will be hard to do so. If you keep trying, one day you will find a way. In today’s time, I got a chance to collaborate with big record labels big directors and A-list celebrities from around the world.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am mostly involved in the post-production part of the project mainly in editing. I specialize in Avid, Premier pro and pro tools which are some of my day-to-day use software to help me create what I can for on-screen experience. In the past, I have worked in the camera department as well as in the sound department. My main motto is to work and be connected to filmmaking in any sense. But I chose to be a full-time editor as that is the real place where the final film is made for the world to see. Now I am about to start working for a new company known as Urban Phulkari. They are planning to start production for a new Web Series based on the lives of Students from different countries trying to get noticed in the United states of America and how they survive with limited resources and what kind of difficulties they have to face to qualify to come here and enter a good college and later to get a job. So it will be a story of a whole journey with different beats of life in it, And I will be the editor for the whole series.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
When the covid lockdown hit us, I was not at all prepared for the consequences I was about to face, financially, care for my loved one and many more. Somewhere I was scared that how will I survive and will my family be ok when I am not there with them in these hard times to take care. But rather than sinking low, I started to focus on myself while I was sitting in my apartment. I trained my skill set more and trained myself physically and mentally both. That also got me close to my friends and my roommates like never before. I knew there are people who are behind me if needed. Just because of my investing that time in myself when there was no work coming in, today I am at a place where I count myself very fortunate that I did so and people recognize me for my work due to that hidden time I spent with my self-training. But surely I got a lesson to not take anything for granted, especially people you love or you care about. Work will come and go, money will come and go. Always be nice to everyone.
