My story as an artist began at a very young age. I was always fascinated by the world of art and creativity. As a child, I found myself constantly drawn to colors, shapes, and the idea of bringing my imagination to life. This early passion was nurtured by my family, who encouraged me to explore my artistic talents.
As I grew older, my interest in art evolved into a more serious pursuit. I realized that I wanted to make a career out of my passion. This decision led me to attend the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), where I honed my skills and deepened my understanding of art as a form of expression and communication. My time at SCAD was transformative; it wasn’t just about learning techniques but also about understanding the power of storytelling through art.
After graduating, I embarked on a career as a freelance artist. This path wasn’t easy, especially in the early days. The freelance world is highly competitive and unpredictable. However, I was driven by my passion and the desire to create art that resonates with people. I spent countless hours refining my work, learning new techniques, and pushing the boundaries of my creativity.
One of the pivotal moments in my career was when I began to integrate illustration with motion media. This integration allowed me to create a more dynamic form of storytelling. My work started gaining more recognition, and I began collaborating on diverse projects, each presenting new challenges and learning opportunities.
Along the way, I’ve been fortunate to have the support of mentors, peers, and clients who have all contributed to my growth. They have provided me with invaluable advice, feedback, and encouragement. This support system has been crucial in helping me overcome challenges and stay motivated.
Today, I’m focused on expanding my artistic horizons. I’m exploring interactive forms of art and launching workshops to help aspiring artists. My goal is not just to create art but to create experiences that transport audiences to different worlds, evoke emotions, and inspire imagination. I’m incredibly grateful for where I am today and excited for what the future holds in the ever-evolving world of art and design.

The journey has certainly not been a smooth road; there have been numerous challenges and struggles along the way. As with any artistic career, one of the primary challenges I faced was establishing myself in a highly competitive field. The art world, especially in the realm of illustration and motion media, is saturated with incredibly talented individuals. Standing out and finding a unique voice was a significant hurdle.
Financial instability was another early challenge. Freelancing, particularly in the beginning stages, can be unpredictable. There were times of uncertainty where securing the next project or client was not guaranteed. This uncertainty required not just artistic skill but also learning the intricacies of business, marketing, and client relations.
Another struggle was the continuous process of skill development and staying relevant in an industry that is constantly evolving. The need to keep up with new techniques, software, and trends meant that learning had to be an ongoing process. Balancing this with actual work and personal life was, at times, overwhelming.
Criticism and rejection have also been part of the journey. Not every project was a success, and not every idea was well-received. Learning to handle criticism constructively and not let rejection dampen my creativity or self-belief was a crucial part of my growth as an artist.
Maintaining self-discipline and motivation, especially during challenging times, was essential. There were moments of self-doubt and creative blocks where inspiration seemed distant. Overcoming these phases required a deep-seated passion and commitment to my art.
Each struggle has been a learning experience, contributing to my growth both professionally and personally. These challenges have taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of perseverance. They have shaped my artistic voice and have been integral to reaching where I am today.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
The COVID-19 crisis has been a period of significant learning and reflection for me, both personally and professionally. One of the most important lessons I learned is the value of adaptability. The pandemic brought about unprecedented changes, and being able to adapt quickly to new circumstances was crucial. This adaptability was not just in terms of how I worked but also in the way I approached my art. The crisis pushed me to explore new mediums and methods and to think creatively about how to connect with audiences in a time of physical distancing.
Another key lesson was the importance of digital connectivity. The pandemic underscored how essential digital platforms are for artists. With galleries closed and events canceled, the digital space became the primary avenue for showcasing work, networking, and engaging with audiences. This shift to digital not only allowed me to maintain visibility but also to reach a broader, more global audience.
The crisis also highlighted the significance of community and support networks. The challenges brought by the pandemic were a reminder of how important it is to have a supportive community, whether it’s for sharing resources, providing emotional support, or collaborating creatively. I found immense value in staying connected with fellow artists, mentors, and the art community at large during this time.

I learned to strike a balance between work and rest, to take time off when needed, and to engage in activities that replenish my creative energy.
