Today we’d like to introduce you to Yu Vitor
Hi Yu, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
“When I was a child, I watched a character called Sharkboy, and that was the moment I decided I wanted to become a Hollywood actor. After that, I trained in many different skills in Japan and gained a lot of experience on film sets. Finally, at the age of 22, I made it to Hollywood. Here, I met incredible people who became my teammates in creating movies, and I was lucky enough to be part of many amazing projects. That journey has led me to where I am today.”
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Yeah, the journey was tough—no doubt about that. But it was fun, too.
For example, when I first came to the U.S., I didn’t know anyone, and my English wasn’t great, so I struggled a lot and felt really anxious. But I knew the only way forward was to take action. So, I started going to as many film sets as I could and joined a lot of gatherings with other artists. There were times at parties when I couldn’t keep up with conversations, but I kept putting myself out there. Little by little, people started to know who I was.
Looking back, all those challenges were worth it. They helped me grow, not just as an actor but as a person.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
’mainly an actor, rapper, and martial arts teacher.
As an actor, I primarily work as an action actor, and some of the films I’ve been in have been screened at festivals like PIFF and LAIFF. This year, a movie called Mirage Blue—where I play the lead role—will be showcased. It’s an incredible project, and I’m really excited about it.
As for my music, I mix English, Portuguese, and Japanese in my raps, but I also experiment with different genres. sometimes i create music for companies and educational materials. On February 15th, I’ll be releasing my new song FLY AWAY. I made it with a producer named Jackel, who I met in Vegas. Be sure to check it out!
I also teach Tai Chi every Sunday in collaboration with an organic product company called Muunchi. If you’re interested, you can find more information on their website.
I’m passionate about everything I do, and each area influences the other. It keeps me creative and constantly evolving.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Right now, with the wildfires and the SAG strike, things are quite challenging. But I truly believe that everything happening now is a sign that things will eventually move in a better direction.
In fact, I see these events as a shift, a necessary step for positive change.
As an artist, I want to do my best to help navigate this chaotic situation in the industry toward something better.
I believe artists play a crucial role in society—we have the ability to reveal the truth in a way that people can absorb, even when it’s wrapped in creativity.
That’s why, in times like these, it’s more important than ever for us artists to stand up, use our voices, and keep pushing forward.
