Today we’d like to introduce you to Xi Chen.
Hi Xi, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
Drawing has been a passion of mine since childhood, which naturally led me to pursue a major in Art Design in college. The foundational four years of undergraduate studies were just the beginning; I soon realized that to truly excel, I needed a deeper understanding of design. This pursuit of excellence took me to the Si Chan Fine Art Institute, one of China’s top eight fine art schools, where I embarked on a master’s degree program.
Three additional years of rigorous study not only honed my design thinking but also defined my personal approach to design. My fervor for visual communication grew, as did my skill in employing visual strategies to solve problems.
Upon completing my master’s, I secured a position in Shanghai, where I was instrumental in maintaining the branding for Shanghai TV Channel and enhancing the visual appeal of their shows. Despite thriving in this role, I felt an urge for continued growth and broader perspectives.
Seeking further development, I stepped out of my comfort zone and decided to pursue studies abroad. This journey was transformative. A three-year program abroad sharpened my design thinking and added new dimensions to my perspective.
This unique experience has been invaluable, but it is not the culmination of my career. Rather, it marks a new beginning as I set my sights on the next chapter and the continued evolution of my professional journey.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Pursuing a goal is never a simple endeavor. Along the way, we encounter a multitude of struggles and difficulties. It is the passion for my field and a steadfast belief in my work that allow me to overcome internal weaknesses and continue to fight against negativity and fatigue.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a graphic designer specializing in branding and digital illustrations for the past four years, I’ve developed a keen eye for creating compelling visuals that tell a brand’s story. My work is characterized by bold color schemes and modern, minimalist layouts, which have been recognized in several online design platforms.
One of my proudest achievements was the complete my thesis topic, which included logo design, packaging, and App interface design. This project not only revitalized the parenting but also led to a positive and healthy environment in the parenting journey. The success of this project was a testament to my belief in design’s power to connect with and engage audiences on an emotional level.
What sets me apart is my holistic approach to design. I not only consider the visual aspects but also how the design functions in various contexts, from digital platforms to physical spaces. My background in psychology helps me understand user behavior, enabling me to craft designs that are not only visually appealing but also user-friendly.
I am excited about the opportunity to bring my unique blend of creativity, strategic thinking, and user-centered design philosophy to your team, contributing to innovative projects that exceed your clients’ expectations.”
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I love life. I have passion to explore different medium in art, like clay, shrink plastic paper, watercolor, pastel, etc. I am doing my version IP feature by applying different medium. I believe those multidimensions could facilitate my visual angle to elevate my design as well.
