Today we’d like to introduce you to Wellie Jackson.
Hi Wellie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
It was God’s Plan I tried not doing comedy simply because everybody thinks they’re funny, So I tried to be a Dj I always loved music I figured why not I know how to get a Job if things dont work out I can always go get a job. I had $2,500 Dj equipment came out to be $2,200 dollars. Thats the day I became a comedian. I was a Comedian with $2,500 in my account. All those years of people telling me I should do comedy, Well were about to see. fast forward Ive performed across North America including venues like; Madison Square Garden, Carnegie Hall, and The Hard Rock Arena in Miami. I just wrapped on my first starring role in a movie called “Damn Knicks” and Co- Starring Roles on Hit Netflix shows like Orange Is The New Black and Girls5eva to name a few.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
NO! The road has been everything but smooth, two people I looked up to the most both my uncles have passed away. Not only is it hard losing someone close to you but it’s extremely hard knowing they’ll never get to see you perform and do what you love but I use that as inspiration to push me forward so I can do more.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a Comedian / Actor/ Writer what sets me apart from others is im unapologetically myself in a world where everyone is trying to fit in. I literally wake up and do everything my parents taught me as a kid believe in myself, believe in God and I can do anything I put my mind to, You’d be surprised how easier life gets once you start off your day that way
What makes you happy?
Simply having something to look forward to! Thats where all happiness begins
