Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Ivy Embers.
Hi Victoria Ivy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m 18 years old. I was born in Old Westbury, New York, and grew up around LA, Texas, and NYC. I am currently a freshman in college pursuing a triple major in journalism, creative writing, and biological anthropology (for my pre-med track). I enjoy writing, I’m currently writing two novels and wrote my first song “Blue.” I also enjoy photography, film, traveling, and acting as my main hobbies.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As with most things in life, there have been obstacles. Many of them came during the COVID-19 pandemic, which prevented me from going to high school and enjoying my teenage years. However, I was able to graduate a year and a half early. The space and time I got during the pandemic helped me to grow creatively and find my passions in life and what I want to pursue in the future.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Aside from being a student, I am currently in the works of focusing on more creative projects. In my earlier teenage years, I did some minor acting and modeling. I walked the runway for various designers during New York Fashion Week (Agatha Ruiz De La Prada, Benito Santos, etc) and partook in various smaller roles in music videos, commercials, and television/film. I have worked crew on the set of many films and have my own hobbies in filmmaking. I do landscape/travel photography and have traveled to over 40 states and 18 countries. I am currently writing two fictional fantasy/romance novels that I plan to get published within the next few years. I enjoy writing and producing music as a hobby. I actually just released the first song I’ve ever wrote called “Blue.” I am also currently studying to get into med school.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
From the Covid-19 crisis, I got to know myself better and learned how to set goals more efficiently. I also learned how to overcome certain situations and get through difficult times.
